For the start of our summerbreak we decided to go to Ibiza as a few months before we were in Mallorca and fell in love with it.
Hotel accomodation is always a tough job when it comes to value, service and quality. But in general we were not dissapointed with Sol Pinet Playa.
Room:
Our request for a highfloor room was granted and found the size of the room fine (big enough) for the two of us. Looking at the pictures of other travelers. I can understand why some were not happy if they cramp another single bed for the 3rd person.
Room was always cleaned upon our return!
The interiour is a bit dated, but we went to Ibiza to explore the island not the hotel.
Fairly large balcony wich provided a nice view!
Aircon worked perfect and everything checks out fine with the bathroom (clean, spacious, good waterpressure etc)
The only thing we missed was a mini-fridge or an ice-machine at each floor or in the hotel. (but maybe that is more an American-hotel as I'm yet to find a hotel in Europe that provides Ice-machine for their guests)
Food:
We went halfbroad which means we had to pay for our drinks during dinnertime. The drinkprices were good. Food quality and quantity was great. We always had plenty of options to choose from. In my case I do not eat seafood, which were plenty of. But there were also meat dishes. Great selections for salad and found the food to taste wonderful & fresh. Some nights almost everything was outstandig and others I only liked a few options. But hey I always went back for more. Especially on themenights such as BBQ and Mexican. Breakfast was also great with almost everyday the usual options (pastries, fruits, eggs, salad, beans, bacon, fried mushrooms & tomatoes etc and with one speciality each day (pancakes)
The only thing we were dissapointed in was the coffee and juice. You would except freshly brewed and squeezed, but alas it's from a machine and was drinkable but not enjoyable. My compliments for the chefs and diningroomstaff as they worked hard to clear tables and made sure everything was freshly restocked.
Location:
We heard crazy stories about San Antonio, but honestly it's not bad. Sol Pinet is located in a quiet area, where not much drunking tourist hangs around nor any drugdealing. Having experiencing San Antonio at night, we were GLAD that it is a good 15 to 25 min walk to the center of San Antonio, but nice since you can walk along the water. We didn't want to be stuck in the centre as it is a very busy place day and night.
We had a carrental and a finding a place to park for free was very easy. We usually parked at the parellel street across Pinet or behind the Snackbar located on beach.
For those not having a car you can easily reach Sol Pinet by bus from and to the airport with line9. When coming from the airport you'lll need to walk a bit as the stop is located a block away because of the oneway direction. However catching a bus from Pinet is 2 min walk from the hotel as the busstop is in front of the door. Including the bus that will take you back to the airport.
Can't really comment the pool because there are amazing anf beautiful beaches to swim in. And even if you do not have a rental some of the beaches are accesible by bus or watertaxi. However did find the poolsize small for the size of the hotel. The beach located in front of the hotel was always busy bit crowded and was ok. Once more I advice you to make the effort and do not stay your entire time at one place, explore the island and you'll find your own hidden gem of Ibiza!
Always found the hotel-staff to be friendly(maybe my fluency in spanish helped a bit)
I do not mind staying at Sol Pinet again, however for our coming trip in Ibiza to close the summerbreak we are going to stay in another area in order to experience the other side of Ibiza.
Room Tip: ask for a high floor room!
