My friend and I traveled up from Lisbon on a surf destination. We had no previously booked accommodations and everyone at Hotel VilAzul made us feel at home. They went above and beyond to help us travel around town and inform us of the ways of not only Ericeira but the entire region of Portugal. They speak multiple languages and everyone seems to love the way that they make you feel like you are part of their close knit family. It is pretty much a family business running this place and it really does give you that feeling. As much as they didn't want to see us go, they even called around to find us the cheapest rental car and had one delivered up to us from Cascais. They also helped us find surfboard rentals and even had one employee take us down the street to introduce us to a shop owner for a discount price. I really can't say enough about this place and the people working there. We ended up returning back to stay at this place after we returned from Peniche up north. Don't be surprised if you find yourself sitting around and talking to the staff about the amazing town they live in or Portugal itself. If you are visiting Ericeira there is no better location or place you can stay. Great free breakfast, free Wi-Fi, amazing ocean views from 3rd floor sun deck (and our room), and the friendliness of the staff is something you can't put a price on. I didn't want to leave and can't wait to go back!
