We've watched this low-key, high-quality hotel being built from scratch over the years. It has minimal impact on its beautiful seaside surroundings with small, mainly one-bedroom apartments dotted around the complex. The owners - three businessmen from a town a few miles away - have spent an absolute fortune on it and have borne the losses as it slowly earns its reputation as a great, secluded hideaway. All the mini-villas are decorated with traditional and high-end Sardinian fixtures and fittings. At its centre is the building containing the bar and restaurant. A pool lies between the hotel centre and the sea. The food wins rave reviews from locals and visitors. The only downside is that you might have to watch achingly beautiful brides, grooms and guests enjoying themselves almost every weekend of the year as the Sardinians and mainland Italians regard this as one of the best places to get spliced and celebrate afterwards.
