Der Alpenhof is situated in a tiny village on the edge of the Alps. The service is consistently outstanding, whether from reception, restaurant or spa staff. We stayed for a week and were lucky with the weather, if it is grey and drizzly it is likely to put a downer on your holiday but with dry weather you are guaranteed to have a great time.
The hotel has a great location, you can walk out of the door and straight into the Alps. The hotel will hire you bikes (just eight euros a day) if you want to travel a little further afield.
Unless you are willing to drive you are limited to the hotel for evening meals but fortunately they do a set menu which changes daily which in my view merits a Michelin star. It really is a fantastic menu, full of taste, and as far as we could tell largely sourced from local, fresh produce.
There is a spa area which includes a sizeable gym, and treatments can be booked as you choose during your stay.
The standard rooms are rather small, but are kitted out well, free internet access and complimentary water and fruit. The bathrooms are a delight, again, small but with great showers and beautifully decorated.
The one negative comment I can make is that the bed was rather small and rather hard. Fortunately we were so exhausted from the walks in the Alps we tended to sleep regardless. Aside from this Der Alpenhof is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. A real delight.
