“Our second trip here - just perfect again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2011

We stayed here last March (2010) and loved it so much we came back again with friends for 5 fantastic days. We ski in many different parts of Europe but as I write the snow conditions are very poor throughout much of it. Chamonix, being very high, has good snow and the added bonus of being able to pop through the Mont Blanc tunnel to ski in Courmayeur. Its the perfect last minute destination for Spring 2011.

Neil is an amazing chef and our meals were of extremely high quality with wonderful local ingredients. The added bonus is, he welcomes you to sit and watch him cook - so free cooking lessons! Kate, thier chalet maid, is a really super girl and happily taxied us about to the different ski areas each day - always being on time. The highlight of probably our skiing life, must be skiing down the Vallee Blanche - one of the best ski runs in the world. It should be on every skiers "must do in my life" list - absolutely awesome! Neil and our professional guide Stuart looked after us perfectly.

Neil and Julie are the perfect hosts, they really made us feel like old friends and nothing is too much trouble for them. We cant wait to go again, not sure we can wait until next year. . . .!

“We will be back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

We had high expectations and we are thrilled to say that our stay at icona this spring more than lived up to them. Julie and Neil have created the perfect combination of a homely, relaxing atmosphere with attentive, personalized but unintrusive service. The other highlight here is without doubt the food. We think you would find it difficult to beat at accomodation in the same catagory.

“Great base for visiting Chamonix”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2010

We stayed at Chalet Anchorage for one night in September and loved the place! The English owners Neil and Julie were very hospitable and gave us great recommendations for local restaurants and view spots of Mont Blanc.

The alpine chalet is gorgeous and comfortable. It is a few minutes drive to Chamonix and the Aiguille Du Midi cable car which takes you high into the mountains.

The majority of breakfast dishes were homemade by Neil and very tasty. Neil even made us packed lunches for the following day's travel after we told him we had eaten too many sandwiches at service stations.

“Absolutely superb!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

This is our second visit at Chalet Anchorage and we couldn't recommend it highly enough. The outside of the chalet is gorgeous in Spring and simply stunning in Winter. The chalet is so cozy and it felt more homely than our own house! The rooms are set up with meticulous attention to detail and each have their own ensuite. The beds are really comfortable and the towels are luxuriously fluffy. Neil is a professional chef - everything is prepared from scratch using seasonal produce and every meal was just glorious. After our first stay, I left the chalet with a renewed cooking inspiration and have started baking bread to try and recreate our Chalet Anchorage experience. :) Thanks Neil and Julie for a truly memorable stay - we shall look forward to visiting again in the near future! :)
