This is a lovely place that offers excellent value for money. It does not offer true luxury but it is beautiful, rooms are spacious and the hosts friendly. We had dinner here and although the food was not spectacular (but perfectly fine) it was very nice to sit outside in this quiet place.

For the price we highly recommend this place.

Logis du Paradis has been beautifully restored to a very high standard. Tasteful and elegant. Nick and Sally were great hosts and really made us feel welcome. We’d booked dinner on the night of arrival which was excellent and much better than most restaurants! The pool area is perfect for relaxing. I would definitely recommend this B&B should anyone be in the Cognac region. Loved their 2 dogs too!

We stayed at Le Logis du Paradis for 5 nights in July 2009 and found it a wonderful spot for a stay in the French countryside. The owners, Nick and Sally, are extremely welcoming and hospitable, and they have renovated the collection of buildings (around 15 of them) themselves over the course of several years. The place as a whole is absolutely beautiful.

They offer accommodation of two self-catering cottages and five guest rooms. We opted for room 2, which opens directly onto the courtyard, and is prettily decorated and comfortable with a separate shower and bath. Just off the main courtyard is a lovely walled garden with a pool, where we sat out a few times with a book and the resident dogs, Bracken and Bramble, for company. Beyond the garden is a meadow with wild flowers, and the whole place has a very relaxed and relaxing feel. There is a kitchen for guests to use, with a fridge and honesty bar well-stocked with wine, beer and other drinks.

As mentioned by other reviewers, Nick and Sally can offer evening meals by arrangement and we took advantage of this on the day of our arrival, after a long drive. The food was excellent, and they were both interested to hear of our plans for the stay and were able to offer suggestions for places to visit, routes to take and restaurants to try. The hamlet of La Magdeleine is tiny with no restaurants of its own, but within an easy drive are a number of small towns and villages that offer some really good (and good value) meals. On all sides you are surrounded by fields of cognac grapes, maize and sunflowers, so the environment has a very rural feel to it, and on one morning we borrowed the pair of bikes that are kept for guests’ use and went off exploring the local area, which was great.

Every morning Sally had gone to great trouble to present a huge array of breakfast choices, including fresh croissants, pains au chocolat, bread, cereal, fruit, yogurt, you name it – far too much for us ever to do proper justice to, and frankly that is always one of the great things about a French holiday!

Cognac is currently still rather an undiscovered part of France, which may be why Le Logis seems like such very good value given what it offers. It would cost a great deal more to stay somewhere like this if it were located in Provence, Burgundy or the Dordogne. We honestly struggle to find any areas of complaint, and will certainly recommend it to our friends.

We recently stayed in this lovely spot and were so saddened that we had not planned more nights here or that we could not change our itinerary to stay longer...we simply fell in love with this beautiful inn, the owners and the area! We plan to return! Sally and Nick could not have been nicer, we felt like we were guests in their home...not their inn! The inn is just beautiful, rooms are large, airy and beautifully decorated with all the little special touches, beautiful fabrics, furniture and baths. Rooms are built around a large courtyard area, in nice weather can sit out in front of your room or on a deck in the back or around the lovely pool...beautiful garden...We loved the area, really felt like being in the "vrai" countryside of France...great little village nearby, restaurant and lovely walks..
Nick loves old cars and gave my husband a quick spin in an old MG...who would have thought! There is gracefulness and consideration here that you do not often find! Breakfast was absolutely the very best...everything fresh, homemade and every bite declicious..well can I say more...
