For years we have stayed at the Campanile at Lens to break our journeys home from the South, but this year we felt it was too dear, so we looked for alternatives. This hotel had everything going for it. It was just off the autoroute, and easy to find.We had a very warm welcome, even though we arrived well before the official check-in time. The room was really clean and fresh, the air-con worked (neither of these can be taken for granted!) and, miracle of miracles, they still use these wonderful crisp sheets, not the too-hot duvets that most of the chain hotels have moved to. A MASSIVE Auchan is just up the road, ideal for that final wine haul before the ferry home, and there is a Flunch resto attached to it! We will certainly be using this hotel as our staging post from now on.
We didn't have breakfast there, as we don't normally eat breakfast.
