A group of 18 French students,2 teachers and a coach driver stayed in Nethy House for 3 nights at the beginning of June. The accommodation was great, spacious and comfortable-the students were 6 per room and the adults in single rooms-plenty of toilets and shower facilities for all of us and for much larger groups. There is a big practical dining room and a cosy games/leisure room with snooker, darts and a piano-perfect after a couple of beers at the local pub just opposite.
We opted for full-board which was the perfect solution for our busy days in the region. The meals were good and excellent value for money. The evening meal prepared by Patrica was brought to the house by Richard, our charming host with a great sense of humour, food was piping hot and all dishes went back almost licked clean.Breakfast was simple but plentiful ( tea and coffee making facilities on hand 24 hours a day ) and lunch was of picnic supplies, perfect for our needs.
On our last evening Richard organised a surprise Scottish evening, greatly appreciated by us all, complete with piper, haggis and a wee dram, and a lesson on how to dance a Scottish reel.We spent a fun evening which we will remember for a long time.
Before our arrival Richard and Patrica were very helpful, giving me suggestions and advice about educational nature and environmental visits for the students.Richard was a great help and organised a visit to the Glenlivet estate and distillery,a guided walk in Abernethy Forest with an RSPB guide and a visit to the osprey hide. Each of these was very interesting and we left the area with a lot of knowledge about the faune and flora which was one of our main objectives in coming to Scotland.Richard was also very helpful in giving us the local weather forecast and providing maps for a walk in the local area.He was able to answer our questions about the region and took the time to converse with the students too, which for them,non-English speakers was a great opportunity to practise the language.
In conclusion excellent accommodation for groups, lovely, friendly, helpful hosts and a very beautiful region of Scotland.

I am so glad that you enjoyed your trip so much, Ragamuffin! We are here to help and we know that our old properties are aging and tiring, but we aim to make sure that your trip is as smooth as possible to make up for that! I have to admit that you did only fill half the space - big groups over 50+ can be a bit cosy!
