Friendly staff and excellent value for money, we visited this lovely old hotel at the same time last year for a short break and were once again delighted.

Overall, very happy with our stay

having stayed in this hotel in May last year for a long weekend we were desperate to go on the Xmas packagewhich we did get booked in June/July so we were so excited. On arrival we were greeted by Craig with a warm welcome and given the rooms we requested one being 24 which is a great room at the top. We were also given the itenerary for our stay which included entertainment at night but Craig apologised for there not being much on but it was fine. We were a bit upset at the bar closing at 10pm every night but it wasnt major. After being there in May we had found that the hotel itself had deteriorated greatly, the tiles in the bathroom were loose and the loo was not fixed to the floor so it wobbled and a few cobwebs maybe only seen at night from the bed?

Christmas Day was an absolute nightmare having a small child in our group it was difficult to entertain her without the residents lounge being available so we lay about in our rooms all day. The plan for the day as set out by the hotel was breakfast between 9 and 10 with Lunch being at 12/12.30 which was really too early and the presentation of that meal was awful and not very appetising. The next meal encounter was at 6pm when we had a buffet of very little food and not a sausage roll or mince pie or christmas cake in sight which we did expect being Christmas? We really felt like second class citizens on Christmas Day and pushed out of the way for the high paying public who came in after us! The entertainment was rubbish but really not the fault of the staff who were all extremely helpful and accommodating and who had their hands tied and really did everything they could to help out.

This was a great hotel but over the last 7 months it has gone down hill which is a shame as the staff are really excellent.

Had booked 2 rooms for 3 nights. The rooms were upstairs which was not convenient for my mother. Spoke with Craig the Manager and he quickly changed to more suitable rooms. We had a great break the food was excellent and staff could not do enough for you. The entertainment on Hogmannay was ok unfortunately a number of us did not enjoy the disco. Spoke to Craig and he will look at this for this year. All in all would go back to this hotel. Thanks to Craig and staff.
