We stayed here for a week and couldn't wait to leave in the end. We were looking forward to a break that included sports/activities, good food and reasonable prices. The foolowing is pretty much what we found:
Accomodation: We booked a superior room, which was nice, but there were several issues: The Air conditioning was terrible, hardly any output and rattled like a can full of stones. Reported it twice but got no feedback. When I spoke to reception the second time, I was told that if I was too hot, I should just take the sheet off the duvet - really rude receptionist. The shower was also totally erratic temperature wise.
Food: This was probably the biggest disappointment for us, from a quality, price and choice point of view. We had paid for breakfast, which was a huge buffet affair. Like the previous review, I agree that there was too much food of a poor quality - watery yoghurt, bitter fruit etc. The 2 restaurants are Italian and Spanish. We tried the Italian twice, the first we ordered lasagne and spaghetti carbonara. The lasagne was a block of 6 layers of stodgy pasta with hardly any sauce, the carbonara was initially brought out as bolognaise(beige coloured), when we explained it was not the dish we ordered, the waitress was disbelieving, 2 mins later a dish of cold pasta with a lukewarm scoop of white liquid was plonked in front of us.. yuck! The second time we had pizza - definitely not fresh as we had the exact same pizza at the poolbar 3 days later, definitely defrosted!! The Spanish restaurant was only slightly better. Overall, the price of everything was very high, we are not mean, but €2.80 for a twix ice cream from the bar is terrible, especialy when its €1.80 in the shop. A large coke (spraygun) was €4.00.etc etc!!
Classes: All done outside on a basketball court, but wth no shade cover!! The first 3 days the temp was averaging 30c.. totally unpleasant to do step aerobics etc in these conditions.
Rental equipment: We wanted to rent bikes for a day. As mentioned, heat was intense so wanted to go either early am or late pm. Not possible as rental times were collection at 0930 -return 1730. Another word on RENTAL: there are 3 tabletennis tables at the poolbar. We asked at reception to borrow/rent bats+ball, only to be told they had to be BOUGHT!! I think this really says it all about the spirit of ripping people off!
Pool area/sunbeds: There are 2 leisure pools. Both have really poor quality sunbeds which sag so badly that you are lying on the frame of metal bars, so uncomfortable. The pool nearest the hotel is also so packed that your face is literally 1.5 feet away from the next rows' feet! Really uncomfortable. There is also the usual issue of towels being placed seemingly in the middle of the night taking 90% of the beds, despite signs saying towels would be removed if this is done.
Overall, a really disappointing place. Another point to make is that we only realised on arrival that the resort really is only actively marketed to German/Danish/Spanish people. This is evident in the agent folders in the hotel - approx 12 different operators, all from these countries. TV also had 2 channels out of 12 in English. We were not there for TV but its just an example of the focus. We also found the reception staff mostly to be unhelpful. When we asked for a recommendation for restaurants/bars in the local area, we were told they wouldn't give us any information as "we have our own restaurants" In all my years travelling, I have never been told this by a hotel - totally unhelpful. We did find a couple of seafood places in the local village which were much better priced and better quality than anything Playitas had.
Overall, I would say be very wary booking here unless food/drink is not important to you and all you want to focus on is exercise!!
