“Perfect for anyone who wants a relaxing, trouble-free holiday”

Don't trust what is said below! I can assure you, our stay at this hotel was amazing.
- Fantastic staff who responded to every request , whithin minutes.
- Very comfortable beds/rooms (spacious).
- The waterslide offers a lot of fun
- The beach just a quick walk away
- Exceptionaly clean
- Fantastic pool with jacuzzi, waves...
- A number of sport activities in groups worth trying (e.g water aerobics, salsa...)
- Excellent food in the neighbouring village *
- The value is very good in the city of Gran Tarajal, just a few minutes away in bus. It's not a touristic place which can explain the cheap prices (I bought beautiful pair of shoes there for under 10 euros).

The bad stuff...
- I wouldn't recommend this for anyone in search of bars and discos.
- The food quality is very poor at the hotel's restaurants.
This hotel is perfect for families and athlets. If you shop outside the hotel, you will be surprised how much you can get for your money.

VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE READ!!!!

By accident, we discovered a fantasic restaurant in the small village beside the hotel. Its name is EL TORIL, I think, and the food was amazing. All kinds of fish are at the menu, and also a beautiful sirloin steak for only 10 euros. This was the best I've ate on a vacation. The owner was incredibly nice. He gave us a bottle of expensive balsamic, and also the recipe for his wife's delicious cheese dessert. If you want to eat well, go there. It's practicaly undiscovered by the tourists, only the spanish go there.

HOW TO REACH IT: Follow the beach promenade until you reach las playitas and go all the way to the end. Turn left, by the kiosk, and continue. You'll see a supermarket( by the way with excellent things), and if you look to the right, a little up, you'll see a heineken sign. It's there. Get there and get in to the restaurant.

“Playitas – Aparthotel Bahia Grande can qualify for 3 stars”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2010

Bahia Grande has excellent sport facilities with fitness, cycling and swimming (olympic) ranking very high. Unfortunately too few tennis courts and absence of other facilities like squach and athletic limit the possibilities.
The Bahia Grande has excellent none competitive swimming pools with good space and enough sunchairs.
Bahia Grand is a place for families with kids or sports seeking folk.
The biggest mistakes at Bahia Grand is the reduced offer of restaurants in form of a buffet, one Spanish and one Italian. The quality of the buffet restaurant is good at breakfest and awful in the evening (closed for lunch). The pool part offers unhealthy and low quality pizza and burgers (no fruit option available), which should be avoided. The Spanish and Italian restaurants were merged into one during our stay and the menu options are just to few for a 2 week stay. It is a questionmark, if they would qualify for a 4 star hotel.
On top of the relative good sport facilities it must be noted that the kids loved the stay, the activities and the parents found the price level at Bahia Grande competitive given the level of quality.
Fuerteventura has very little to offer next to the sea, wind and goats. However try to climb the mountain behind Bahia Grand and walk (4km) to Gran Tarajal. It can be done within 1.05 hours of people from a country with no mountains. Make use of the competencies of Deep Sea diving at Playitas and do some boat diving trips or first experience dives. Try the Subcat (u-boot) from Jardia. Did the jeep safari with Discovery and can not recommend as the knowledge level about the Island’s evolvement (e.g. our chauffeur could not speak English, German or French, but he was nice and kind) matches that of turist brochures and the ecology is the same, same and same...
So do Playits because of the sports and kids will enjoy, but do not expect 4 star level.

“lots of flies on the food on the lovely looking food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2010

We went to this hotel a couple of years ago and thought it was wonderful so we returned its not so much that the hotel isn't good but it seems to have lost something that made it perfect. I think it was to do with the start of the holiday were we got to the hotel and as we had booked 1/2 board and it was quite late we had to rush and find were the meal was served. last trip it had been in a restraunant just along from our hotel but even though the lady on reception did show us on a map we didn't understand that it was now in the served in the nect hotel along (still in the hotel complex). So we ended up in the wrong place and had to pay for our meal the first night which totally stress me out.
Next morning we made it to the right place to breakfast and we tried to perk up abit even though the walk to breakfast was a touch futher than it had been on our prevous visit and breakfast wasn't so bad. The good mood of the day evaporated when we went in for tea as we relised instead of a resturant of the previous trip half board was now a self serve buffet which would have still have been o.k. value if the food was fine husband and daughter had uneatable chicken I had something called white fish instead of the lovely speical fish meals I'd so enjoyed last time. Then we became aware of the real problem with the half board option the Flies that were crawling on the truely delicious looking pudding luckily the ice cream was in a freezer therefore covered and if my darling daughters nose crinkled and she couldn't bring herself to eat ice cream that the serving spoon had been used by entire buffy with washes in still water between flavours it was copeable with. The panic that set in to my brain at the thought of finding an evening meal out everynight on my badly planned hoilday buget was not what I expected so we had to toughen up and get to tea early in the vague hope that the flies hadn't jumped on to the actual hot food. Touch wood we didn't get ill so must have been a good policy but as I say meals not a delight and quite stressful. The hotels atmosphere seems to have drifted away from family holidays and more towards group events. Very good Aba tribute band there one night and sports very good there just don't eat there.

“Fabulous facilities for excercise and relaxing in the sun, but the in-room entertainment is insufficient”

Spent a week at Las Playitas and will certainly return next year for the fantastic training facilities and winter sun. We thought it represented great value for money and our self catering room was clean and quiet. There is a fridge, but no freezer and two electric hotplates (which don't get very hot), and no oven, so the potential for food preparation is limited. The entertainment in the room is also limited unless you are German. Only the very repetitive BBC World News and Eurosport are in English and none of the limited selection of films to purchase through the TV were in English from what we could tell. The hotel doesn't have a DVD lending library and DVD players are not provided in the rooms, so if you enjoy watching film of an evening, take some with you and a lap top - we didn't do this, so spent the evenings reading instead, which was fine, but the lack of options for entertainment in the room did come as a surprise.

“All about Sports in an Exquisite Garden on the Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2010

Whether you weigh 20 pounds too much or are an elite sports nerd this is the right place for an active or a relaxing vacation. Situated 35 minutes easy drive from the airport at the coast next to a small fishing village Playitas Aparthotel has it all. The apartments are true 4 star quality, spacious, solid walls where you cannot hear the next door neighbor, beds with real downs for the northern European style sleeping and fresh milk (no UHT) and all this is surrounded by lush subtropical garden on the vast grounds. Flowers all over add to your entire wellness experience here.
Our family is very relaxed about sports, but we felt welcome anyway. We were out running, used in-and outdoor fitness equipment, joined a yoga class, played minigolf and went walk about on the tracks mapped by the hotel. We did sports along with the best of the best German, Danish and British swimming teams who occupied about 1/3 of the hotel during week 7, 2010. But be aware guests go to bed early at this place, and they are up and active by dawn. On the downside is the food. Where the garden is 5 out of 5 stars –the best we have seen worldwide, and the aparthotel 4 real stars, as rated, the food in the resort restaurants is of too low quality. Especially the fine dining “La Bodega”, who shares kitchen with “Trattoria Da Luigi” is really bad value for money. Instead, we suggest to walk 5 minutes around the end of the beach to the local Las Playitas fish restaurant and get the exact same menu card great food quality and at half price. Advice: Bring electric kettle, flip flops (pool area tiles are dangerously slippery when wet) and plenty of sports clothes fit for a warm climate because you get inspired to become active among these splendid surroundings.
