My friend found the place from the US, and paid for a week. Looking at the web the resort seemed very nice. The first surprise was when at checking in, we were informed we would need to pay HUF 12,000 for a service package (incl. of parking, cleaning, use of pool and facilities). It might not be the fault of the hotel that we were not duly informed on that amount in advance, but we in fact got nothing for this money.
Our apartment was okay, but to put it slightly, nothing special.
The time we stayed was really hot, and the apartments are not airconditioned. (Finally we checked out two days earlier, because we could not sleep, so gave up) Moreover, when we asked for at least a ventillator, we learnt that we could rent one for HUF 500 per night. This did not seem to be service oriented, especially, when we were paying for parking in the package, while we did not come by car...Moreover, only two windows of the apartment had mosquito net on, so we could not even open the bathroom window, or the terrace door without letting insects in.
Cleaning staff came every day, changed towels. However, when we asked them to change the bedclothes, we were told it can only be requested at the reception, and for a fee. Considering that this is a summer resort with no AC, this does not seem to be right, and is far from any standards.
The resort has WIFI only at the reception area. It means that we had to walk quite long with no shade to get there and use the computer (I assume most people go there when it is too hot to stay at the pool...).
Our apartment was quite far from the reception / restaurant and the area was not well lit at night, so I would say it is not really safe to walk without seeing the sidewalk, and the apartment numbers are not easy to read even in daylight.
The pool is rather small, I suppose it is good for families with kids. My friend used the gym, and said it was not really big and definitely is not well equipped.
We were really disappointed with the place and as said, left earlier. I would suggest to look around, and make efforts to improve....Of course only if you want guests to stay, or even return...
The good points were that the cleaning staff was friendly, and the restaurant had good food for decent price.

We liked to visit Dobogómajor every year, but honestly speaking, nothing has been improved for quite a long time.
Whilst the world, especially in the tourism, is developing at a good pace, Dobogómajor is stalled in time.
I mean, there are many good things there - quite enjoyable, especially for the first time - but what was annoying from the start, is still how it was. Eg.
- the outdoor pool is too cold, and to small for so many people,
- everything is forbidden that normally goes with an outdoor pool (playing ball games, diving, making noise, etc.) - disciplines first!
- there are to few deck-chairs around the pool; therefor it is always a rush for them every morning, which is derogatory, and on the other hand, people occupy chairs even if they are not sure if they are really willing to use them or not (this is true for both Hungarian and foreign guests as well)
- in general - everything is undersized, from the indoor facilites to the number of trolleys to help move in/out,

On top of that, there is a perceptible shrinking of the level of services in many terms since the beginning, which is a bad sign for the future, and gives a certain cost-cut feeling to the whole.

If I were the manager for Dobogómajor, I would:
1) deploy solar sets fpr the existing outdoor pool (could be economically heated on the roof of the pitch next to it)
2) put slides to the swimming pool
3) ease the rules regarding the use of pool
4) move the playground closer to the equerry, and establish a deep, square, cold water pool there for the adults, but still close to the kids
5) build at least another indoor spa facility like the one in the main building
6) modernize room equipments (air conditioning is badly missing in summer, flat screen TVs instead of the tiny CRTs, etc.)
7) beds are far too soft, and not adjustable, for God's sake! We always return with a backache.
7) in general: revise and re-size the possibilities.

the units location is about 500 meters from reception. no cars aloud to come inside the village. they give you a 4 wheel cart to be carry all the way. good for young people with children.

Nice resort however, apartment definately needed maintance;
Paintwork very poor and lumps of plaster had come off in some places. Netting on window had split rendering it useless against mosquitoes. (Would benefit from a fan as no air con, and quite hot at night)
However having said this, the cleanliness is fantastic - thanks to all the domestic staff who cleaned the apartment daily spotlessly.
For the size of the resort, the pool is just too small, built, I assume before the resort expanded. This needs extending or, a second bult to accomodate the demand - difficult to swim in once both adults and children in it.
Most of the reception staff helpful.
Local Hevizi lovely and walkable distance.
Beware - Charges approx £40 per week on check-out for 'services'. We were not informed of this until our arrival
