Just back from a very enjoyable stay at the Poseidon Resort. There wasn't many foreign (english) people like myself staying. It was mostly Greeks, one or two germans and french. I stayed one week with the family. I had a bungalow Room 267 which was a bit of a clime up the hill from the beach etc but the amazing view of the sea was totally worth it. Thank god for air conditioning though, because without it would have been hell. It was ice cold and refreshing, It wasn't noisy at night either. Actually, everynight I slept very well. No noise from outside at all. Mind you, my bed was a bit firm and squeaky which was minor nuisance.
The hotel staff in this place was amazing. Always smiling and approachable. Many took the time to get to know you and remembered your name. Even the restaurant staff remembered my room number and my beer from the night before. They couldnt do enough for you.
I couldn't say this hotel is cheap, or a bargain and for that reason I couldn't recommend it for everyone, however excluding the weekend when the greeks would stay for the weekend it was a very quiet resort. Perfect if you just need to unwind or want some quiet time with your partner.
They have an amazing lounge bar at the top of the cliff that you can walk up to at night which is beautifully lit with soft lighting and nice soft music. If your on a honey moon this is a perfect hang out but be warned, its about 9 euro for a bottle of beer, and its quite a climb to the top by steps.
outdoor swimming pool is salt water but has fresh water just to the side of it to wash your eyes and mouth. Theres also a nice indoor pool if you need a break from the sun or want a little more privacy. Everytime I was there it was empty.
I loved this hotel as it has loads of watersports on location. Here i learnt to dive. For intro to diving is 60€ for about half day. Yanis is the instructor. Very nice friendly guy and explains things very well.
We also done a few days of Archery which I thought was very reasonably priced. 10€ pp for Maria to teach you everything you need to know and hit that bull and she brings water. Be warned though it has to be evening class about 7 because it has far to hot and exposed up there during the day. It takes place up at the very top of the resort in the tennis court. Its a long hard walk but if you wanted you could get a lift by the hotel golf kart. No golf course though. Loved the giant chess. Dont expect much from tv. You get english films but the reception varies from room to room. But I didnt really care about that.
Internet is 5€ phour. Food is plenty, and enough variety to keep us all happy. Although one night my food wasnt very warm and I left it and had salad instead. But it seemed a one off.
My mum and dad and bro, sis stayed in a studio room in the main building which didnt have much of a view at all but was very spacious and was a little bit more classy inside. It was convenient being so close to the bar / restaurant/ beach.
Mini Bar was a laugh. Firstly they gave me the wrong key for mine so I never bothered with it but my dads had an opened mars bar and nuts. Something to look out for. Plus I think the fridge was broke so it wasn't cold.
Overall, I had a great time here. If I was ever to visit again, I would pay 5€ for a taxi into town at night because there's so much to see and do. Miles upon miles of seafront bars and taverns that are much cheaper that the hotel and more life about it.
