great pool and bar very clean hotel very handy for bars and beach staff are very helpfull and the price is very reasonable

just back from michelanis.perfect base for a great holiday.very clean,almost brand new.new pool area,bar etc.the owner Yannis and family are brilliant.cant do enough for you.Ariste the barman is a character too.the rooms are basic but very clean. all you need for 2 weeks hols.decent shower area/toilet.air con is 110 euros /2 weeks.safe 15 euros a week.large beer 2.5 euros.it wqas quiet while we have been here.only about 6 apartments let.cleaners were in regularly.fresh towels every couple of days.its a great place to stay.chemist/doctors next door.supermarket next door.take away food 25 yards away.restaurants,bars,shops ,car hire all on doorstep.beach is only a couple of minutes away.we had free sunbeds on the beach at Yassas bar and Diomeas restaurant. Stalis is a great place to holiday.not too boisterous but lots to do.we made lots of friends the last 2 years,and will be back next year,staying at the Michelanis.so its a BIG thanks to Yannis for a great hol.see you next year..Arny B

We were booked in to the Penelope apartments originally an when other holidaymakers were being dropped off at Penelope - it wasn't a good location. The wrong side of the main road and a bit distant from the beach.
We arrived at Michelanis - and the location is superb - right on the shopping street and 2 minutes from the beach.
The owner Yannis greeted us -a brilliant guy very helpful and friendly. The apartments are all refurbished - everything is clean and new.
We have been going to Greece for the past 10 years and these are one of the best apartments we have stayed in.
The apartments have a pool/bar at the rear and a bar at the front. The owner Yannis kept giving us free drinks and peanuts or fruit - wonderful.
we did notice that prices this year are very much cheaper than last year. Food and drink are about 40% cheaper - a real pleasant surprise. It seem to be that the Greeks have adjusted to the current economic climate!

We had a great time at Michelanis - and given that we nearly ended up in Penelope - the change was a real bonus.

Absolutely loverly self-catering accomodation, totally refurbished rooms, decore inside and out superb, brand new swimming pool and outside cafe/bar, staffed by the owner Yanis and his family to whom nothing was too much trouble.
The only small criticism we have is that the cooking utensils were very limited so we were retricted in what we could cook.
But why worry, scores of loverly Greek restaurants very near at hand.
The resort of Stalis is a busy, vibrant place to be with some thing to suit everybody from superb restaurants/bars/shops and of course supermarkets.
It was my wife and I first holiday in Crete and what a loverly Island it turned out to be and we would have no hesitation in returning another year.
