We stayed at the Parkhotel in the second wknd of January 2010 (despite what it says below, since the review date-selection doesn't go back more than 13 months). It was a €25 pppn package deal including breakfast thru HotelWeek.
We expected to have to park at a paid lot, but instead received a free pass for the cellar garage upon arrival, which was a nice welcome and as I understand not common practice at this hotel. Checking in went swiftly and smoothly. We were given a quiet room at the rear.
I had read jubilant reviews that spoke of very big rooms and dito bathrooms. However, our room was of a modest size, and although the bathroom's shower compartment was luxuriously big, unlike most other rooms the bathroom didn't have a bath. Probably each of their rooms at the end of a hall is similar to the one we had. We did wonder howcome we weren't naturally granted a bigger room, as clearly the hotel wasn't particularly full during this low season weekend. The room was absolutely clean, and so was the bathroom. The bed was comfortable. Everything including the carpet was as if new. The room breathed a stylish and comfortable atmosphere, as did the hotel in general.
The view from the window overlooked the roof of their conference hall below and the rooms across: not very exciting, but then again we weren't there for the view. I think most rooms situated at the inner side at the back of the hotel shared a similar view.
The blackout curtains were operated by a nifty electronic control panel on the nightstand, and so were all the light switches. The pretty fast WiFi connection in the room was free of charge. There's a wide selection of tv channels available if you're in for that. Staff gave us a simple city map and helped us pick a restaurant.
The central heating radiator in our room wasn't warming up properly from the first evening we were there. We reported it at the front desk first thing next morning. Staff was friendly and courteous. They didn't manage to repair it during our stay though, but at least they made several attempts. We could have made a bigger deal of it, but we like our bedroom cool anyway.
Breakfast was the best treat. We kinda felt the hotel flaunts with it, because of its explicit references to their Tripadvisor reviews on their website at the time. All stories are true: breakfast here was the best I'd ever had at any hotel: an abundant selection of anything one might imagine to have to start the day with, including local specialties and a cook ready to scramble our eggs along with ingredients of our choice. It wasn't a problem to overstay the breakfast timeslot.
We were also pleasantly surprised by the hotel's spa. The new and cosy looking sauna facilities were included in the price. All in all we were quite impressed with this hotel.
Room Tip: Do consider asking for one of the bigger rooms if you get a modest room like we did, providing it...
