We had such a good holiday. The locals and staff are so friendly and very helpful, especially at the Plat reception. We stayed in Villa Barbara, which is one of the four apartment blocks that have been nicely renovated. Self Catering is basic, which we utilised during lunch, with a glass of wine on the balcony, listening to the waves in the background. We had taken food with us to eat some meals in, however there ae so many nice places to eat in Dubrovnik and Cavtat that we didn't bother. Self catering = 2 rings, a couple of pans, obviously cups, plates etc and a very small fridge. We would recommend eating one night in the taverna, as you get 15% discount and it is very romantic, as it looks over the Adriatic Sea. We spent alot of our time on the pebble beach right of the apartments, which is nice and quiet, however there is another beach to the left, which has it's own bar. You can walk up to the road to catch the bus, which goes past both ways Dubrovnik - Cavtat) every half hour and will cost you just over a pound each way. Note: There is a short cut up to the road, which you will find at the top apartment block on the right - saves you about 10 minutes walk. Cavtat is really nice - food is excellent, as is dubrovnik. We went on the 3 Island boat trip with the Adriana Company - such a lovely day - £30 each, with a free taxi ride to dubrovnik (boat taxi), free lunch and free local drinks all day :) We had a fab time. Have been going to Turkey for the last four years, but this was something different. Must warn you though, that there is a lot of evidence of the past war in the 90's - but that just reminds us of how lucky we are and how hard the locals have worked to rebuild such a beautiful country.
