“Nice location”

We stayed in the Apartments section of this resort also comprising a 3* hotel. The location could not be better: true sea-front with 180° view to the islands and the mountains in the mainland. Our apartment was functional, with 1,5 bathrooms and a nice sea-front balcony but also an absurdly narrow bedroom. The resort is just outside the fascinating village of Veli Losinj and is surrounded by trees, therefore very quiet. A nice walking or bike trail along the coastline from the resort leads to beautiful coves and the main town of Mali Losinj (about 30 min). The sea is outstandingly crystal clear, although sometimes foamy. Access from rocks or rocky platforms is facilitated by stairs/ladders as in pools. There is a charge for lying chairs and sunshades. There are 2 pools with sea water. Chairs and sunshades in the pool area are free. Food in the hotel is varied. The breakfast buffet is to be recommended, whereas the dinner buffet is somewhat less attractive.

“BEAUTIFUL”

Stayed in the apartments. We had a 2bedroom 1 1/2 bath apartment.Thought it was reasonably priced for "Sea front". Did not use restaurant. Drove to supermarket and purchased lunch food and cooked dinner in 1 night. Walked everday into town for a warm chocolate croissant and coffee. Ate dinner in town and walked 15 minutes away to Rivenska (best meal). Will definately stay again!!

“Could be better...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 May 2008

It is a three star hotel on a beautiful location just outside the Veli Losinj, practically on the beach. We stayed for four days on a half-board basis. Hotel has an indoor swimming pool with jacuzzi, sauna and solarium, beauty center ( massage, cosmetics ), an outdoor swimming pool and some shops with domestic products. The restaurant is very large with almost no decoration - really, not a pleasant atmosphere. The buffet breakfast was the same all four days and the choice&quality had been just average. Same goes for buffet dinner - not much to choose, not much taste in the food. And one tip for hungry ones: be there as soon as the restaurant is open because after some time there is a lack of everything. The room was small with unconfortable bed, but has a big balcony with nice view. No mini bar, but renovated toilet. And a sattelite tv. The staff: ok, although one day the room was done in late afternoon. And after we paid, no "thank you" from receptionist. Yes, there are small things that counts...I had some great expiriences from beautifull 3&4 star hotels on croatian coast but this one was a slight dissapointment...

“Exceptional price, great place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2008

Our experiences at Punta are wholly positive and we have highly recommended it - other reviews here do not reflect our experience.
Like most hotel developments in Croatia this is built around the communist era policy of locating developments outside the beautiful towns and villages so that tourist doesn't spoil the very things you are coming for: blue sea, fabulous views, great walks, fresh food. The original hotel has been much modernised and the site - full of planting and gardens - now has a block of apartments (which are probably the best bet, essential if you want/need air conditioning).
We booked a "Wellness Package" that was ridiculously cheap. Ok, the food in the restaurant was not to our taste (but for the price very reasonable). We 'swapped' our evening meal most days for vouchers to use in the restaurant that had breathtaking views across the little bay to the village (5 mins away).
The three included treatments in the Spa were simply exceptional and the whole holiday cost what one day in a UK spa will set you back!.
The staff were helpful (we are fussy hotel users) and Croatian and proud of it.
This is a place for a magical holiday before Croatia is spoilt - by us all.

  • Liked — Everything on site - but only 5 mins from spectacular village

“Terrible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2007

This hotel looked really nice in the travel agent's brochure, but this was one of the worst hotels I've stayed in. The building and interior decorating are obviously left over from 1980's-era communism. The corridors are dirty and ugly, the elevators are so loud that the "clunk" keeps you awake all night, and the furniture is cheap and old. The bathroom is so small that you can barely take a shower without getting the whole room wet.

The food at the half-board restaurant is about as good as my college dining hall was. It is institutional cooking at its worst. I could barely find anything to eat for breakfast, and refused to eat dinner there after the first night. The hotel also has an a la carte restaurant where you can use the credit from your half-board dinner, which is OK and has a nice view of the harbor. Apparently if you want to sit near the edge of the patio, you have to have a reservation. There is also a very casual pizzeria which is OK, but the best food was definitely in town and not at the hotel. If you are going to stay here, plan on eating out often.

The pool and "beach" areas are kind of dirty, and the service was pretty unfriendly. The resort was mostly populated with Italians, who could be pretty loud at the beach.

On the positive side, Veli Losinj itself is charming, and I saw an octopus snorkelling off of the beach.
