My husband and I stayed 2 nights recently at Cabinas Eddy. I do believe it is the best hostel in Monte Verde. It really didn't feel much like a hostel, more like a hotel. Freddy, the manager, was always checking to make sure we were doing ok and if there was anything we needed. They offer tea or coffee anytime of the day, and it was such a pleasure since it was a bit chilly and windy! The rooms were very basic, but very clean. Showers were hot and towels were nice! A free breakfast each morning of coffee, tea, fruit, pancakes or eggs. It was very good! For something simple, but nice, and inexpensive, I would recommend Cabinas Eddy to anyone. Freddy even offered us a ride last minute up to catch our bus at 6:30am! Great people!!

My stay at this quaint hotel was excellent. Freddy is one of the nicest people I have ever met! Free breakfast, clean and comfortable rooms, great service, and affordable price. I am sad I only stayed one night. Definitely coming back here!

Cette auberge familiale est rustique, propre et accueillante. Son propriétaire Freddy et sa femme sont très accueillants et amicaux, Freddy est aussi très patient avec les gens qui apprennent l'Espagnol ! L'espace commun de l'auberge favorise les rencontres et permet de contempler l'extérieur souvent venteux de Santa Elena à l'abri, en savourant un bon café.
L'emplacement est super, à un véritable 100 m du centre de Santa Elena et des commerces. Ce fut un plaisir d'y séjourner et nous avons hâte d'y retourner ! Sebastian y Maria

This family guesthouse is clean, rustic and warm. The owner, Freddy, and his wife are really friendly. Freddy is also very patient with people learning spanish ! The shared living room is great to meet other travellers and allows you to look at the outside while drinking a coffee, safe and warm from the wind of Santa Elena. The guesthouse is near Santa Elena's center, a real 100m away from action and restaurants !
It's been a pleasure to stay there and we can't wait to go back there. Sebastian y Maria

We stayed there for 2 nights (wish it could have been longer...) in January, 2012 and are planning to return at the first opportunity! One morning, we had a very early birdwatching tour, but Freddy made breakfast for us anyway. When we returned tired and hungry and a bit frustrated that all the restaurants in town were closed on Sunday morning, he promptly cooked up a second breakfast for us.
