“What a gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2010

For our first two nights in Scotland, we stayed at Clune House and totally loved it! The room itself was perfect - very, very clean and comfortable. Mary and Bruce were so kind and helped us with lost luggage, travel plans, and finding our next accomodation. The village of Newtonmore is out of a time long gone and was both refreshing and relaxing. The location was central for getting to Fort William, Inverness, exploring Loch Ness and the small towns around it, and just seeing the glorious Highlands. This was one of our favorite locations in our week's stay in Scotland and we thought it had the best scenery of all of Scotland. Make sure you check out the mansion from Monarch of the Glen which is just down the road! Access to the computer and telephone were greatly appreciated. We also enjoyed mingling with friendly Scots in nearby pubs! Thanks for a wonderful stay, Mary and Bruce! Scotland and Clune House truly blew us away!!!!! Not quite sure why our guide books don't include Newtonmore....it has definitely been overlooked! Hope to return for the Highland Games!

“A highlight of our 2 week trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2010

Travelling with our 3 children, we stayed at Mary's and Bruce's B&B for two delightful evenings. We all saw this as one of the highlights of our vacation. The B&B is very comfortable, inviting, and well located for various day trips to the Highlands. Wonderful breakfasts. The real joy, though, was having the opportunity to meet and visit with Mary and Bruce - and of course, Holly the Collie! They provided great advice and insight on places to go, and generally were a delight.

“Very friendly hosts and romantic room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2010

It was love at first sight when I first laid eyes on the double room laid out for us, with its charming English crockery and lovely linen. Only hitch was the literal en-suite bathroom which was least soundproof, so quite embarrassingly funny when one of us was using it. The electronically controlled shower is awesome though. The hosts were very friendly and Mary not only serves an A-One Breakfast but also offers amazing travel tips to visit the nearby attractions and some of the speyside distilleries. And who can ever forget Holly - the friendliest dog ever :)! The hitch however was whats common to all B&Bs- the lack of soundproofing between rooms which becomes quite a disturbance and a constraint - in our case the latter since we have a hyperactive 2-yr old who was advised to keep the noise down.

Thank you for the lovely compliments. We are sorry about the soundproofing between the rooms but our house is over 100 years old so you will not get much better built walls than this and we are sorry that we had to ask you to try and keep the little one a little quieter but at after 11pm in the evening and with other guests having early rises in the morning we didn't think it was too much to ask.

“Gaelic warmth and hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2010

Absolutely fabulous stay with Mary and Bruce. Their warmth and hospitality superb. Very helpful with local advice, suggestions and solutions! Ideally situated for skiing but out of the hussle and bustle ofthe closer busy towns. Bruces' photos of the wildlife park inspired us to take a visit and meet Mercedes the polar bear, skiing was fantastic and a lovely local restaurant
It was better than home from home ! Certainly come again
