I've visited Dunas Du Alvor twice during the summer with my family, and both times we loved it. The apartments are spacious and clean and the staff on site are lovely and welcoming. The reception staff in particular were extremely helpful with any queries that we had, such as hiring taxis, restaurant recommendations, places to shop etc. Although there is a small supermarket at the end of the street and a mini market on site (which was quite pricey) we were informed (by reception) of a larger supermarket about a 10min taxi ride away which was a fair bit cheaper. The pool is lovely to swim in or relax by and is of a good size. Also the beach is only a 15min walk away, and although fairly crowded initially if you walk away either side it soon becomes much quieter. There is more than enough choice of eating out, from restaurants cooking fresh fish caught that morning, to Indian, Italian or even little cafes. Its lovely to take a walk through the town at night, especially down by the harbour, which at sun set is beautiful to look out at. Whilst there we visited Lagos (by bus) which proved by be a nice day out if you want to experience somewhere other than than just Alvor. The only downside to this holiday is the distance from Faro Airport. We got a transfer to and from the airport and the journey takes well over an hour. However, we did have a lovely tour rep who tried to lighten the journey, which made it a little more enjoyable. All in all a great holiday.
