Just stayed here for a short half-term break and was pleasantly surprised. Situated in a quiet street but five minutes walk from everything you could possibly want, including a mini-market over the road (if you're lucky enough to catch it open), a larger supermarket a bit further on and dozens of bars and restaurants.

We were lucky enough to be allocated a 2 bedroom apartment (just the two of us) and it was huge - massive living room/dining area, separate kitchen/diner, and two balconies. The staff were friendly and helpful and overall it was a great stay.

The beach is a bit of a trek but there is a network of long connecting walkways and it is a pleasant walk. And the effort is worth it - the beach is huge and practically empty, although what it'd be like in the summer I don't know.

Alvor is an ideal holiday destination - this was our third visit. OK, the Alvormar could do with a freshen-up and Alvor is a bit of a drag from Faro Airport but I will definitely be going back.

We stayed here in May & Sept. In May we came for a week but ended up staying for three as my son was admitted into hospital for 17 days. I can only say that Mr. Virgilio,Tony and Margarida were absolutely brilliant for us, organising another room for us to stay in for the extra 2 weeks we were there and their genuine concern about our son`s health. We can`t thank them enough. We returned in September and had a lovely, less stressful holiday. As a cheeky request we asked for a room in the garden with the sun loungers on our balcony,which was granted without hesitation.This was our seventh time in Alvor and we just can`t get enough of the place,so it`s Alvormar again 2012

We spent 2 weeks at the Alvormar in August. The location is brilliant, right in the centre of town and yet nice and quiet. It is within walking distance of everywhere, and just around the corner from the excellent Irish bars. The Irish Inn was our favourite, Mick from Tipp being a great entertainer.
I don’t understand the comments from people about the place looking tired, unless the apartments vary. Our one bedroom apartment was very well equipped with the kitchen area having a full size oven and ceramic hob. A large balcony had a partial view of the sea.
Although being the middle of August we never failed to find a sun lounger, although a few more umbrellas would not go amiss.
A top tip is to use the small mini mart just across the road. Really friendly lady, and much cheaper than anywhere else we found. I’d estimate on average a third less than the nearby Ali Super .

Stayed in Alvor for many times. This was the first time i stayed here.
We were upgraded as we arrived to a bigger apartment.
AlvorMar is very centrally located. 10 minutes walk to the beach, restaurants, market, taxis, bus, supermarket, bakery....... everything is very near.
The apartment was very clean. The kitchenette has everything we need if you want to cook some simple or light meals.
The room was spacious and comfortable.
Perfect for a week stay.
we could see the beach and the sea, because it had a lovely balcony with table and chairs. great to eat outside.
Staff is very kind and professional.
I will come back.
