When we arrived at the Dimora Celeste, it didn't look bad. It was a hot mid-July afternoon and the room we were given was understandably torrid, so we laid down our luggage, turned the air-conditioning on and went to cool down in the pool. When we got back to the room to take a shower, we realized that it was as stifling as before. The air-conditioning was on but it wasn't working at all. It was unthinkable to sleep in that furnace that night. The owners were sorry and surprised because they said the air-conditioning had just been overhauled and recharged. They agreed we couldn't stay in that room, but no other was available, so they took us to another B&B, run by some relative of theirs, at the other side of the town.
Even though they promptly found a decent accommodation for us, that setback was quite unpleasant, because we had only one evening to spend in Ostuni and we had to waste a couple of hours trying to fix the air-conditioning and finally moving to the other B&B. I must acknowledge that the owners were kind and helpful, but before our arrival they should have checked more carefully that everything was in order, all the more that we had booked our room at the Dimora Celeste several weeks before.
As for the access lane some reviewers complain about, the last right-angled turn can be really complicated if you have a large car, mostly when leaving. It's quite inexplicable that nobody has ever done anything to widen the access to the property.
