I had to stop in St. Wendel the night before a business meeting in a nearby town; I had no car and didn't have time to get to the next town that evening. I chose the Hotel am Sportpark mainly based on price, and was pleasantly surprised. It's not fancy, but it's relatively comfortable and very clean, and has all the amenities I personally wanted (especially free wifi).

The best thing was the helpfulness of the staff. I don't speak German, and in a tiny place like this it's hard to find people who speak English, but the hotel manager speaks reasonable English and we managed just fine. The manager went out of her way to make me comfortable and, when it was raining the next day and I would have to wait for the bus in the rain, she had her husband drive me to the town where my meeting was. I call that incredible service, beyond the call of duty.
