Okay, it was windy, hence the title, but overall this is an very good hotel. We stayed in a junior suite which we were a little apprehensive about booking because we could find very little information about the size, layout and facilities of this type of room. It exceeded our expectations. The suite had a large 'master' bedroom which you will see numerous photos of on this site and an adjoining lounge area through partition doors (basically we had 2 rooms) which had its own good sized en-suite. Our 11 year old slept in the lounge on a roll in single bed, which was comfortable enough but could have been better. We had two balconies overlooking the beach and the lower pool area and a twin sun lounger on the balcony where we were sheltered from the wind and prying eyes (we were on the top floor)...5 stars all round!
The maid service was a bit hit-and-miss as on one occaision one of the cleaners was only in the room for 5 minutes, left a pile of swept up dirt on the bedroom floor, did not replace the toiletries and was basically not very thorough. The other cleaner we had was superb however, so this was only a minor gripe.
Food choice in the main buffet was varied enough to keep everyone fed well, including the aforementioned fussy 11 year old. And again the service in there was a bit and miss varying from very attentive and pleasant to being completely ignored (this happened only one time and by one waiter). The a la carte (one 'free' visit) had a limited but good choice of dishes. We were given a wine list which we had to pay for and they failed to mention there was the free house wine available. I'm fussy when it comes to wine but their house white was the best I have ever had at an all inclusive so a major thumbs up from me there and I would have had that rather than pay 14 euros for a mediocre bottle in the a la carte. Lovely view there too, great service and modern surroundings.
The hotel can't do anything about the wind as this is the windiest part of the island but at times it was quite refreshing and at other times prohibitive in terms of swimming, sunbathing. etc. If you get lucky with the weather and your room you will be in a very good all-inclusive hotel. The heated pool was just the right temperature and not too crowded. Pilar, who worked the pool bar was fantastic as was Penelope who seemed to pop up everywhere.
We loved our free bus trip into Playa de las Americas which was much nicer than we expected...lovely, clean and well manicured public areas and a wide range of shops and restaurant.
Go for a junior suite on the thrid floor overlooking the pool. We were in 335/336 in A block---fant...
