Just got back from a wonderful stay at Diana Hotel, which is actually more of a set of serviced self-catering one-room apartments than a hotel. It is really small and quiet, neatly hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the main beach and all the waterfront tavernas and shops which are only a 5 minute walk away. Diana is set in spacious private gardens on a clifftop with magnificent views across the sea and the rocky coastline from every room. There were four big highlights for us:
First, Diana has it's own tiny but unspoilt private cove (with pebble beach) for swimming and snorkelling. No beach umbrellas, no salesmen, no razzamataz, just sea and rocks and pebbles. It's a steep path down, but worth every step.
Second, the owners (who are also the staff) were really friendly and helpful. They went out of their way every day to make us feel welcome, and even walked up the road to meet us on our first arrival. Great people.
Third, there are great sea views from every room. There are 5 apartments on the upper floor with balconies and 5 apartments on the ground floor with paved patios open to the lawn and garden. We had two neighbouring ground floor apartments and could sit together enjoying the sea views across the lawn.
Finally, the shops and restaurants are literally only 5 minutes walk away. So very easy to pop out to the supermarket to stock up the fridge (every apartment has a little kitchenette) and it was a very short stroll down to the tavernas for supper every evening.
Diana does not offer luxury accommodation - the rooms are simply furnished, small and quite basic. However the location, the views and the staff are world class!
All rooms have views of the sea!
