The rooms are nothing to write home about, and as a vegetarian, I was served risotto two days in a row. However, the bar is quite nice, there is free table tennis and a gym with good equipment.
The beds are too soft, but that is a question of taste.
Some of the staff are very friendly, others were questioning other guests' request for more rice in a very impolite manner.

Quiet setting, friendly staff, nice rooms, great restaurant and free wifi internet service make this my favorite place to stay near Roermond.

I've stayed here on business many times over many years. I like it because it is quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of th nearby town of Roermond. You do need a car to get there, but once you are there the place has a welcoming tranquility to help you rest.
The bar and restaurant are excellent. Service is friendly, while the food is both beautiful and tasty. Prices are there or there abouts for this quality. The range of beers and wines is good.
The rooms are somewhat spartan, but they do keep improving every year, with decent TV's being introduced and a wider range of chanels being available. The whole building has free WiFi. There's also a swimming pool, sauna and 'wellness' (fitness?) centre for the more energetic.

My wife and I were the only two people in this place that resembles a YMCA or hostel more than a hotel. Upon registration I was asked if I'd like something to drink and I accepted two hot chocolates. When we checked out the owner was standing at the desk making sure that I paid 4 euros for the hot chocolates. All they had to do was tell me at the time.
The place is crazy. First of all besides the cocoa incident we were the only two people in the entire hotel!!! There were two people wandering around the grounds when we checked in and some guy came into the restaurant when we had breakfast but those were the only people we saw or heard.
The breakfast heated pot had two cold omelets in it plus there was juice and a little bread. Two omletes for two guests. It was very weird in this spartan( no carpet) basic place located in a difficult place to find or to find your way out of the next day.
The desk people were nice and the steamroom and sauna were nice.
