“A Great Surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

We basically Stumbled upon this small hotel. A great find and the price was a bargain. Absolutely spotless and charming. The staff was friendly and more than helpful. The young girl in the morning even helped me print out my airline pass. The breakfast one of best-even fresh squeezed orange juice!

“An absolute gem in Torgiano, Umbria”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

Al Grappolo d'Oro is a cosy, small hotel, decorated with local art and pottery, and a lobby that is comfortable and welcoming. My room had every convenience, a marvelous bed, and a spellbinding view of the Umbrian hillside, and the hotel's pool and lovely gardens. The family and staff were so kind and helpful!
Il Ristorante Siro, owned by the same family, is two blocks away. If you are in Torgiano, be sure to dine there.

Room Tip: I don't think you can book a bad room in this hotel!!

“Wonderful hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

We stayed for 4 wonderful nights.

Our room was on the third floor and had a balcony terrace with a wonderful view of the pool and over to Perugia and the mountains beyond.

The room was beautifully furnished with a huge bathroom and air conditioning.

The hotel is small and really well done, lots of interesting sculptures.

Breakfast was plentiful with everything from cereal to fresh cakes to cold meat and cheese.

Would highly recommend to anyone keen to explore Umbria.

“A Charming taste of Umbria”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2009

My family and I stayed in this hotel during a recent tour of Italy and it was one of the most enjoyable experiences of our trip. This hotel is a real gem set in the midst of the picturesque Umbrian countryside. The hotel itself is a renovated 19th century house and the rooms are beautiful, clean and charming. It is part of a co-operative and so doesn’t have all the facilities you may be used to, but that is definitely not a negative. The aroma of this hotel is worth remarking upon – pleasant scents emanating from every room made for a welcome atmosphere. The pool was beautiful and overlooked the countryside. During our stay, it was generally quiet but the peace was sometimes shattered on rare occasions by local children using the pool facilities.

It did seem as though it was more of a well presented b & b than a hotel, staff were difficult to find at times during the day, but helpful when located.

Breakfast was adequate, with freshly squeezed orange juice being the highlight along with being served in a lovely conservatory alongside the pool area. Staff were very helpful and polite. The lounge area provided a tranquil and refined atmosphere in which to relax. Great care had been taken over the choice of decor and objets d’art on display. Watch out for mosquitoes nabbing you when reading in the very nice reception area. If you stay in this hotel you MUST eat at the co-operative family run restaurant, Siro. The food is utterly fantastic and will provide you with a taste of the best Umbria can offer together with fantastic views over lovely countryside.

This was a welcome surprise in the middle of a very tiring tour of Italy. We managed to relax and unwind in very pleasant surroundings and would hope that the hotel is successful in maintaining this peaceful atmosphere. Highly recommended!
