“We will be back as often as possible”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2011

I love the Amalfi Coast, and often i visit, now that i have been working and living in Naples Italy, i go to the Coast at least once a week, this time my boyfriend and i took a small vacation 3 nights, and decided to try La Casa Del Melograno that i found searching for a B&B on the net. We where greeted right away like you would greet old friends. This place is so pretty, Our room was very clean and spacious, very comfy bed and nice big pillows, it had AC, a fridge, a tv set and the bathroom had a blowdrier not those tiny wall attached sets, but a real one that actually dries your hair, clean towels and all updated ceramic tile work...a plus was our own small gated in terrace with a nice rod iron and tiled top table, with flowers, beach chairs to relax and lounge in and a breathtaking view of a never ending sea...it is very characteristic, and i guess every room has a view of the sea!!! this place brings you inner peace...they serve breakfast on their breathtaking terrace (our favorite place to sit and relax a little), Umberto brings fresh baked crossaints to your wonderful handpainted table every morning, bisquits, jams, nutella spread and asks you if you would like cappuccino, espresso, tea, caffe` e latte, juice, milk and it is all very good...he is an amazing reference, he gives you very useful information and tips to stay away from tourist traps, giving you reasonable and affordable choices for beaches, restaurants, and parking...he suggested 3 different beaches for the days we where there, and we loved every single one of them, out of the restaurasnts he suggested we only tried two , but went back to one twice and absolutley loved both these restaurants and prices where very good as well. for lunch we would buy Panini's as suggested by Umberto at the salumeria in the center of furore, for under 3 euros you get these amazing panini's...every morning we would have a nice chat with Umberto before taking off for the day and every evening before heading out for dinner as well. this place is so beautiful, it's enchanting and Umberto and his wife have made it the complete great experience it was, they are very warm and friendly people...we felt as if we have made friends and are already planning to go back soon for a week end!!! this place is a great deal for the amalfi coast...worth every single euro...i already miss it and i just got back from there tonight!!!

we did stay there for three nights last year...the place looks beautiful...wonderful view on the sea....the bedroom was great with privat pergola on a terrass....the sea seems to be so close...but it's not! furore looks great but la casa is far from everythig especially from the sea...you can't do anything without a car and driving on the roads of the amalfi coast is not very relaxing.... it's true that you can reach the sea by walk in 30 mins but just plan 1h30 to come back...you'll have to climb more than 350 steps......
our host seemed nice at first ...happy to advise us his friend's restaurant or his other friend's boat tour....but don't dare to ask to many questions about tourism ...or ways to drive to, because he will explain clearly that his business is to care about the room service and not the tourist information! and don't forget to bring cash with you before coming to this area because it is just a nightmare to get cash in amalfi, we tried three different towns to get cash (apparently a network problem in this area..) , and mister WANTS to be paid in cash !
conclusion: the room and the wiew were wonderful, but a one-night stay is enough

“Fantastic Guesthouse- a home from home.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2009

I stayed in La Casa Del Melograno with a friend while attending a wedding at the nearby Furore Inn. I can’t recommend the place highly enough! The owner Umberto was extremely helpful with arranging any local travel arrangements. Our room was huge and full of character. We had breakfast on a balcony adjacent to our room. Even when we were late for breakfast Umberto brought us croissants and local orange juice. Overall, for the price it is a great value hotel/guesthouse and I would definitely stay again!

“Good Location and Great Views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2009

We had a wonderful week on the Amalfi Coast staying in La Casa del Melograno in Furore (which is about 4 km from the town of Amalfi). The 90 Euros a night was a real good price compared to other places on the Amalfi Coast at this time of year. It is in an old historic building but the rooms have been modernized. All the rooms have nice bath rooms and everything is very clean. It is located on a dead end street with plenty of parking. Every room has a view of the sea. Breakfast was included and consisted of coffee, juice, a wonderful homemade croissant, biscuits and jams.

A car is an absolute must. You have to drive to everything including the beach. The bus stop was 1 km up the hill. The owner (Umberto Somma) is a very good and helpful host. He recommended several good restaurants in the local area (all in small villages - not the well known towns) and they were all well priced.

The B&B does not have Wi-Fi but the owner does have an extra hook-up in his office area.

The big problem is the location on the side of a hill requiring 80 very steep steps every time you go somewhere. They did help with the baggage when we arrived and departed. I would recommend La Casa del Melograno to anyone who does not have trouble with the steps.

“Comfortable and Cute”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2009

We stayed with Umberto for a week in early August 2009. He was a perfect host. We enjoyed his enthusiasm and hospitality. La Casa Del Melograno is centrally located along the Amafi coast and easy to get to many different attractions. Umberto is knowledgeable about the area and had several good recommendations on restaurants and places to shop. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
