“Hotel perfect staff terrible!”

We stayed here July 2011. We were meant to be going to alcudia but Jet2 seriously let us down and we had to travel to Newcaste instead of Glasgow pay more money and this is where we ended up, thank goodness we did! This hotel is lovely pool area is fab and there was always plenty of loungers. The animation team were amazing and always made sure our daughter joined in, she is seven.
Our room was quite basic but was just for sleeping in and was clean with a lovely balcony overlooking the sea so it was perfect.
The animation team and the cleaning staff were lovely unfortunately the rest of the staff were just awfull. We had read the reviews and decided that we would never let rude staff spoil our holiday unfortunately it does. We felt on edge asking for drinks and things and paying almost £3k for 2 adults and a child for two weeks its not great!
On the plus side the food was amazing, everyday was different and there was always something for everyone and plenty of it. We ate at the Italians a lot of lunch times as it is table service and feels more like being in a restaurant and the pizzas were amazing!
If you go on the beach and walk to the right you come to the shops we didn't find this shorcut until our second week!
We did have a fab holiday but don't think I would go back because of the staff.

Room Tip: If like me staff being rude to you can spoil a holiday for you then I wouldn't go if you don'...

“Wonderful holiday”

We went to this hotel for a week in October 2011 and had a fantastic time. Even though it was the end of the season all of the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms etc were lovely and beautifully clean and the food was fantastic. The pool and surrounding garden area were beautiful.
I would recommend both the Chinese and Italian although the choice is not vast the food was fantastic and there was restaurant type service. I have only one tip the could improve things - they could publish the theme for the evening meals for example the had a curry night and unfortunately I don't like curry and although there were other choices we would have arranged to go to the Italian or Chinese on that evening had we known.

“FABULOUS ONCE AGAIN”

Dont believe the last couple of reviews. This was our second time at the Electra Palace, and it was just as wonderful as the first time. We are booked again for next year.

We were lucky enough to be there when Greece when on strike so we got an extra day in the resort. We went with Direct Holidays and the rep. kept us advised at all times.

We loved the food which was always hot, varied and plentiful. In fact the salads and the cheeses were to die for.

The Italian and Chinese restuarant were a nice change, to waiter service.

The rooms were spotless and linen changed daily, dressing gowns and slippers in the room. small fridge full on arrival. (Could have done with it being replenished daily too)

Pool area and beach fabulous......We have no complaints whatsoever, and as I said we have booked for next year.....cant wait to go back.....

Please go you will love it, its location, views from the rooms.

“Disappointed....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

We stayed at this hotel for a week from 5th October. We travelled with Thomas Cook and sadly we were caught up in the air traffic controllers strike which meant we lost almost a day of our holiday. The hotel is all inclusive but desite being made aware of our very late arrival we weren't even provided with a sandwich. It was straight off to bed. My hubby had to take the cases up as there was no one to assist.

The room was excellent and had the sea view which we had booked. It was immaculately clean on arrival and was kept that way during our stay by an excellent housekeeping department. I mentioned to reception that I found the bed very hard and they arranged to have an extra mattress (topper) put on the bed. This improved the bed greatly and I am pleased I found a mention of this on another Tripadvisor review.

The food was the biggest disappointment. The main buffet was very poor and I really struggled to find anything nice to eat. I have travelled extensively and although there may not always be a fantastic choice I have always managed to find something I could enjoy. Sadly this was not the case here. The food definately catered mainly to the continental palate and as I do not eat things like kidney and liver when I am at home I certainly would not eat anything like this on holiday. The Italian restaurant was lovely and we had a really nice evening meal there. We used it daily for lunch as it was much better than the main buffet. The chinese restaurant was quite good too, but you are only allowed one evening meal in each of these restaurants. For anyone who is used to all inclusive hotels and having snacks available outside of meal times, please note that there aren't any snacks here other that afternoon tea. Take some pringles or similar if you get late eveing munchies like my hubby!

There was a reasonable selection of drinks but the cocktail selection was very limited. Other reviewers are correct about the sugary sweet mixers! The 'afternoon tea' time was an absolute frenzy. It is served a pokey corner and I am suprised that someone hasn't been scalded trying to balance a plate and a hot drink in a pushing crowd. Once you leave the area it would be almost impossible to get back that is why people were getting their drink and cake at the same time. It was quite funny to watch!

The evening entertainment was infantile and very much the 'home made' variety. There were no professional acts while we were there, just the entertainment team doing their best with limited resources.

The pool area is beautiful and very well maintained. There are plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. Sadly the weather was poor for three days out of our six so we did not utilise the pool as much as we would usually have done. I read in previous reviews that you cannot get your pool towels exchaged for clean ones. This is not true. You have to see the maid on your floor and she will exchange them without any problem as she carries clean ones on the housekeeping trolley.

Most of the staff are very pleasant providing you are polite to them. The exception to this is George who has been mentioned previously in reviews. He was quite rude to me when I left a coffee which was almost cold when given to me. I was not the only person he was rude to either. The reception staff were very helpful and arranged for us to keep our room on until 3.0pm at a cost of €20.

Unfortunately UK guests seem to have been in the minority with there being mostly French and German pensioners staying in the hotel. There was a small number of Israili guests and one of the young men entertained us very well with his impromptu dancing!

Although the hotel is beautiful it is somewhat isolated with only one bar near. A taxi to Rhodes town booked at the hotel was €14 but the return journey was €12 from the taxi rank. If you like to get out and about be prepared for a long walk to the main road or budget for taxis. There is no complimentary transport from the hotel.

I would not visit this hotel again. In fact if travelling at this time of year I will stick to the Canary Islands, as I feel that the weather is a better prospect there. Not that this has anything to do with the hotel but I would not travel again with Thomas Cook as they were very unhelpful in difficult circumstances due to the strike. Please feel free to read my contribution on the Rhodes form if you wish to know more about our experience with Thos. Cook including the dreadful flight.

I always try to give an unbiased, honest review taking everyting into consideration. If you need any questions answering, please feel free to PM me.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view. Slightly bigger rooms and away from the pool.

“hotel? 5 star? more like a 4 star nursing home!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

After reading the reviews i didn't have too much expectation from this hotel and yet they were still able to let me down.
as already mentioned in previous reviews it is NOT A 5 STAR hotel but really a 4 star. and although they advertise they have a spa and a gym they do not. again, i already new that when i made the reservation and frankly i did not plan to go to either the spa or the gym.
what i did not know is that the food is horrible and scarce! i did not know that the animation team is almost nonexistent and of very bad quality.
even the highly guarded Chinese restaurant is disgusting!

being a couple around the age of 30 we felt we had just arrived to a nursing home. the place was packed with elderly people. but even had it been packed with a younger crowd there is still something in the atmosphere of the hotel itself that screams old old old... boring and totally not indulging!
forget about just relaxing near the pool or beach with a good drink while catching a nice snack- this is not the place.

you should look for a resort that is located on the east coast, and preferably as south as possible!

the only pro about this hotel is that it is very clean. that's it.

my advice: unless you are a 60 year old who is looking for quit DON'T GO.
better to go to the Lindos Princess resort (which is rated a 4 star but is far better than our hotel)
