In a busy tourist resort crammed with hotels of every description, it is amazing that this hotel manages to survive. It has nothing to commend it above others in the same category, and my stay was so unpleasant that I left early. First the arrival: the reception area is approached up steps, but there was no one willing to help with the luggage. (Tip: there is an easier approach, possibly suitable for wheelchairs, through the café at the back.) The reception staff were unsmiling and seemed to enjoy saying 'no'. I had been asked for a credit card number to confirm the booking, but was specifically told on the phone that nothing would be charged to the card till the end of my stay. (I was not sure how long I would be staying.) On arrival I was told that 5 nights had already been charged. After a tremendous argument I got them to reduce this to 2 nights. The hotel seems to cater mostly to a Russian clientèle, and in some ways it is reminiscent of a Russian hotel. My room was graced by the present of a large cockroach. (My business associate had one in her room too.) There was an old chocolate wrapper in the drawer of the bedside table. I was so disgusted I left after one night, and forfeited the second night's charge. PS There is wifi, but you have to pay extra for it!
God clean and convenient for both the old and new town
On arrival they said that they were full due to a guest not being able to leave as they had a sick child. They wanted to send us to another hotel but we had chosen this hotel specifically due to it's location to the bus station as we had an early flight the next day. We have read about hotels overbooking using excuses to palm guests off to other hotels and we were not sure if this was the case. I mentioned that I write reviews on tripadvisor and suddenly they could move another guest to the other hotel and we had a room. Not because we mentioned tripadvisor but they could see we were upset by the change.
The hotel has very dated décor and the room was small and needed updating too.
The location was great - easy walking distance to most place we wanted to visit.
Comparing the price to other places we stayed in Greece, this was very expensive for what you got would not recommend.
We stayed at Lydia with 3 young children and stayed in the family room on the top floor (4th).
Apart from having to carry bags up the last floor from the lift and the usual Greek attention to building code, this is the place to stay with a family. There is a lounge room outside the actuall room, one inside, and the the whole of the top floor with divans and plastic couches and multiple opportunities for the 3 year old to clamber over the edge and pluge to her death. But this has been the case no matter where we have been in Greece - so if you have to be in Rome - enjoy the space. We will we back here for sure next time.
And we agree with other reviewers - friendly - great breakfast.
Just dont try and get anything printed here - much better to use the free internet provided by the local Council (yes - can you believe it) and the go to a local print shop. The hotel charges one euor a page and did all my printing of tickets of 20 pages for 1.4 E. ( so check you connections before paying for any intenet access - I paid for 24 hrs - 5 E thinking it meant for 24 hour period but it actually is for 24 hrs of internet usage. BAut then I couldnt log onto it anyway even after paying so we used the free service Log On welcome Pass: visitor.
