“A fabulous hidden jewel with outstanding service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2011

My (French) boyfriend and I were in France visiting family and wanted to see Mt. St. Michel and looked online for a B&B type place. He called to make the reservation and the proprietor, Olivier, couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. He gave us great directions and we found it with no problem even though it is very much in the countryside, but also by the ocean which is a must-see (you can see Mt. St. Michel in the distance). Upon arrival he showed us our room which was wonderfully charming and also took a lot of time giving us a number of restaurant recommendations and other things to do/see in the area. He spent a lot of time with us looking at maps, etc.

There is a wonderful breakfast served in the morning in a charming room with a large fireplace. Olivier also has horses on a ranch across the street and told our son that he could go over and feed the donkey and pony in the mornings. Both mornings, he gave us some food to take over and we had such a nice time feeding and petting the animals. This was such a special experience for all of us.

We would recommend this place in a heartbeat to anyone looking for a totally authentic, French countryside experience. The drive to Mt. St. Michel was maybe 20 minutes and it was great to stay a bit further out and avoid the tourist trap hotels that looked to have no charm or character.

“A bit of a paradise hidden in the county - short distance to the sea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2010

A charming and tranquil little stone cottage to find real peace of mind (La Boulangerie). With a private terrace overlooking the garden and paddock. Tastefully furnished and decorated. With a small kitchenette, a shower and a seperate toilet. A mezzanine bedroom with a view to Mont St.-Michel. An ideal starting point to discover the historic heritage or the fine sandy beaches of the region. Just a stone's throw away from the Baie of Mont St.-Michel. Lovely owners. Florence speaks fluent english and is a source of unlimited information and if needed - help. They made us feel just like home.
Thank you for an inspiring unforgettable stay.

“A lovely place to overnight and a great staging point to visit Mt.St. Michel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2010

I recommend this gite (bed and breakfast) in a restored old stone house in a tiny Norman period village about 30-40 minutes from Mont St. Michel. Rooms are decently swized and comfortable, with newly renovated but smallish full baths. Don't expect quaintness in your sleeping quarters, but breakfast is in a lovely dining room (a fire was lit during our April visit). I happened to speak only my miserable French with Mr. Brasme (who may in fact know English), but Madame is completely fluent. They are horse trainers (cross country jumping) as well as innkeepers- if you are interested you will have much to talk about. Riders clopped by on the way to the beach in the AM. There are a number of nearby restaurants of varying levels. Located amidst villages on the other side of the bay from the abbey- away from its tourist infested areas and those on the south Normandy coast. Great beach walking nearby and a fantastic view of the abbey from across the bay which I highly recommend. A good base for an overnight to see the abbey or for a couple days of village hopping.

“Not so friendly, left me in the cold.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 March 2010

I saw these wonderful reviews of the Domaine, and out of so many choices in the area to stay, decided to give it a try.
I confirmed with the man who answered the phone at the Domaine that I was coming to stay with my 11 year old child that evening.
I had a navigation system in the car, but felt like I was lost and called him for directions.
He hung up on me and thinking it was simply a bad connection, I called him back 3 times only to have his voice mail/repondeur respond.

As it was getting dark and raining, I realized that he simply did not wish to help me find his lodging and I drove on to find something else.
I was very friendly, speak French and English, so I do not understand at all why he chose to not respond.
Just thought I would warn any potential visitors that is may be better to have contact with the lady of the Domaine rather than the man if indeed you wish to stay here and find it.
It is difficult to find and at minimum 30 minutes from St Michel.

Brasme Olivier, Propriétaire at Le Domaine de Belleville, responded to this review
26 March 2010
The communication with this lady (who seemed to have trouble finding us) has actually been suddenly interrupted. Although we remained very careful, we had no other calls from her. We tried to contact her twice on her foreign mobile phone without success and without any possibilty to leave a message . Our answering machine which automatically starts in case of absence ( not the case) or engaged line , gives our mobile number on which we are always reachable.

As we didn't see her arriving, I took my car trying to find her on her way!

This lady had a navigator in her car, we are therefore very surprised she never reached us. By the way , we waited for her until 23PM, then we left a note, explaining how to find her room, on the unlocked door of the house in case she would come at last!

Incredible to have such a negativ review from someone who never came at Domaine de Belleville.

“Great B&B with style and view of Mont St. Michel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2009

Although not so easy to find if you forget the nav system at home, the place is worth a visit. The host Florence is very nice and speaks extremely good English. Very nice house decoration, fantastic breakfast, and our room (blue) had an interesting view of the Mont St. Michel.
Florence has maps and will be pleased to show you some interesting points close to the house with nice views.
