We stumbled upon this hidden gem during our recent trip to Sta. Teresa and were so impressed with the atmosphere, service and (most importantly) the food that we returned several times during our stay. Located poolside in Frank's Place Hotel at the main crossroads in Sta. Teresa, the restaurant is a real oasis amid the dust, noise and heat that is Sta. Teresa ... a perfect place to spend a cool afternoon or evening. The service is professional and attentive but not at all stuffy. The owners really go out of their way to make their guests feel comfortable. Most importantly, the food is amazing. I never expected to find such high quality food and preparation in out-of-the-way Sta. Teresa. From the amazing fresh fish and vegetables to the delicious deserts, everything is prepared with skill and expertise. The chef really has a flair for sauces as well that can elevate even the most mundane chicken breast to a real gastronimic treat. If you are planning a visit to Sta. Teresa, don't miss this place!

I absolutely love Azucar and ended up eating the majority of my meals. I would highly recommend it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is fantastic and the owner's are the most friendly helpful people you could ever hope to meet. This restaurant had a diverse menu that pleases young children and adults. The food is served in abundance. The hostess is gracious. The dining atmosphere was very casual.

We live in Costa Rica and visited Playa Carmen for a birthday celebration this year. We chose to dine at Azucar Restaurant while we were there and were delighted with our meal, our drinks, the excellent service, and the casual but pleasant atmosphere. The appetizer was simple, fresh, and delicious. We then chose the special of the evening, which was grilled ahi tuna with fresh vegetables and mashed potatoes. The presentation was attractive, the portions filling, and everything homemade. The fish was cooked to the degree of doneness to suit each of our preferences.
We look forward to dining at Azucar again soon.
