We travelled all around south America and this was THE most lovely place that we came across. Morgan and Nolvis,the owners of the restaurant - who we were lucky enough to get to know over our short say, are incredibly kind and hospitable people. They were such an amazing help to us, telling us so much about mal pais and the surrounding areas. All I need say about the food is that I'm still craving that tico breakfast, 4 months on. The atmosphere was superb, service exceeded all expectations and the experience on whole was, as the name would suggest, sweet! A highly recommended dining experience!

Great little restaurant -we really enjoyed the mint couscous dish and the curried chicken as well as the mojitas. The French woman working there was so attentive to our every need (and to those of the four children joining us) and even acted as tour guide for us in planning a trip to Montezuma waterfalls.

I remember the first time I came to this please thinking it can´t be good because we arrived early and there was no other guest and it looked kind of boring BUT dont hesitate. You will soon experience some of the best dinner service and food in your life. We ended up eating at Frank almost every day during our stay and were not the only ones, after I while we reconized a lot of the other guests doing the some: coming back night after night.
Franks changes dinner menu every week everything is amazing especially the tuna file and steaks. I because one of the owner is from France the drinks and wines are superb. I love Franks it´s an amazing restaurant and the best in Santa Teresa, other restaurants in the area could learn a lot from them.

I don't have much to add to the other reviews (especially foodmanhattan, who was right on the mark) except that I highly recommend Azucar. Spent a week in ST/Mal Pais and this was absolutely one of my best meals. Quite surprising because the location and ambiance is less than fancy (and I was quite skeptical), but the reviews are true. I would describe it as French preparation with a latin twist. I had a simple chicken dish in a beurre blanc that was fantastic.
