My girlfriend and I have just returned from Cuba, and stayed here for 3 nights, We drove from Havana, om the north coastal road. Wonderful scenery and villages but oh so difficult as no signposts. Came back on motorway, no cars just, dead dogs, cattle, cyclists hitchhikers and horse and ox drawn carts. Ermita is in the wonderful Vinales valley. A great place to chill out after the bustle and poverty of the capital. Accommodation is 3 star or less, the room phone didnt work, poor internet, few facilities, only warm water, but that didnt matter. Pay for an upgrade room with the best views. breakfast is served on one of the best hotel terraces in the world, stunning views and sunsets, as is the bar. A new seafood restaurant serves good lobster but beware all the cerviches are done in vinegar!! Hotel staff respond well to friendliness but you have to try really hard, dont know why. A few extra CUC did the trick. Michael who organises tours was particularly helpful arranging our own itineraries, finding great taxi drivers/guides and finding interesting places to visit..Look him up and say thank you from me.

My partner and I stayed here for two nights in September 2011 after our 4 night stay in Havana. We were a little apprehensive as it was so quiet but after the first couple of hours, we fell in love with it. The views from the hotel were amazing. We upgraded our room and we had stunning views from our Balcony. The rooms are very basic but clean. Pedro, the on-site tour manager, was such a great guy and gave us lots of ideas on where to go etc. We spent an hour horse riding in the Valley which was an experience!! The hotel staff were so friendly and we would definitely recommend this place.

We stayed at La Ermita two nights while exploring the Viñales Valley. Rooms were air conditioned and comfortable although the hot and cold water in our shower was reversed. The dining room was in a separate building with a wonderful view overlooking the valley. Between the dining room and our sleeping quarters there was a swimming pool, bar and an area with table and chairs where we smoked Cuban cigars and drank Mojitos while watching one of the most beautiful sunsets of our trip. Staff members were helpful and the dining room food was good. Overall this is a good place to enjoy the Viñales Valley.

I wish we could have stayed in Vinales longer, as it is so beautiful and the quiet was wonderful after a week in Havana. Horizontes La Ermita has a wonderful swimming pool and stunning, stunning views of the mogotes and countryside. It was heaven to eat ham sandwiches and drink mojitos and look at that view and swim. The room was adequate and clean and quiet. We walked into town regularly, which took about 20 minutes and is an interesting walk. Breakfast at the buffet was better than most hotel breakfasts we had in Cuba. The front desk organized a horseback riding tour for us. We were the only 2 people on it, and got to see a tobacco plantation and the tour guide took us to his home to meet his family and hang out for a bit. This was my favorite part of the trip. Had we stayed longer, there were a lot of fun sounding outings. Even though we don't usually stay at larger hotels, this place was just so peaceful and beautiful, I would go back.
