We arrived late afternoon in glorious sunshine for a 2-night stay. Once we had mastered the one-way system into the hotel we found a convenient parking space at the front of the hotel. The staff were courteous and friendly, with rather good English (given our more limited Spanish!). Our room was on the second floor, with a window that overlooked a neighbouring room! (we needed to keep the blinds closed). The room was rather bland but clean and spacious with the added advantage of a separate dressing room. We dined in the (rather expensive) restaurant the first evening but the food was excellent. The only disadvantage was that the menu was written entirely in Spanish and the waiting staff were unable to translate due to their limited English - made for an interesting meal! Our second night was disappointing due to the noise created by a Spanish family with children next to us. Laminate flooring and thin walls do not make for a good nights sleep when children are noisy and you can even hear them taking a bath! The overall location of the hotel was excellent though. We were within easy walking distance of the beautiful old town which was full of character and charm, which happened to coincide with a festival atmosphere whilst we awaited the marching bands gathering for the Basque celebrations. Plenty of restaurants available, but beware that the Spanish eat later than us Brits - dont expect to eat before 8:30pm. I am not sure whether I would recommend this hotel due to the lack of sound-proofing, but certainly a brilliant location where you can park the car and walk into the lovely old town.
