For a few years me and my husband dreamed of visiting the famous "Cinque Terre". We didn't want to stay in the confusion of the tourist that is normal in that small villages.. in view of that we choose a small hotel in Moneglia, from the Cinque Terre can be reached easily by train in just half hour. The hotel we choose was a good, managed by a friendly family who helped us organize our excursion in the best way!
..and not forgetting their cusine, simple and tasty, the buffet breakfast with homemade biscuits and cakes and many other delicacy.
During lunch and dinner traditional local dishes are served made with vegetables, meat and mostly seafood.. especially I loved the Pesto and the bread with olives!   The rooms are simple, warm and very calm.
Really a nice holiday, with all the lovely places and beautiful scenery, of course not forgetting the wonderful tasty food!!!
I really suggest this hotel to anyone who loves relaxing and good food.. you fell like being at home..... (with the sea close by...)

This is the very best place to stay while visiting the Cinque Terre. It is only a short short train ride from Monterosso and evenings in the quiet "real" Italy are a nice break after the crowed 5 T...crowded with Americans, I must say...and understandably so! Staying at Hotel Maggiore gives one a sense of a small Italian village with very personal Italian hospitality. The food is excellent. The hotel is comfortable and immaculate. The owners are friendly, helpful and personable. Their English is excellent although they do encourage as much use of Italian as desired. The beach is across the street and the tunnel is amazing. Ask about it! The train station is only a few minute walk from the door~ very convenient. I would recommend Hotel Maggiore for anyone...individuals, groups, families.

I was there three days with my family for Easter 2008.
We paied 60 € per person, per day in HB, and for that price I imagined an hotel rated *** had to be better...
Some hotels' windows look at the busy street just infront, where cars stop for 20' waiting for the green light to pass a tunnel.
Very old furniture in the hotel and expecially in the rooms.
Very small bathroom with a strange wc and bidet "all in one".
Smell of fried fish everywhere, including rooms all the day.
Terrible mouldy smell opening the wardrobe and drawers.
Poor meals, not helping and friendly owners at all.
Very poor complimentary in bathroom.
Very difficult parking and, the owner, asks you to leave him the keys of your car.
The last day, when I pay my bill they tried to let me pay some coffees we never had (old trick...).
Never more in that hotel!!!
