“Hostel-like looking rooms but breakfast was OK.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

I must admit with all the prior reviews i read about this place, i was really skeptical but had no choice as this hotel was booked via a tour package. We reached this place pretty late at night for check-in and were very thankful that this was just a one-night stopover.

The carpet in the rooms felt like it needed a major vacuum because it felt dirty and musty. There was no ventilation in the room except opening the windows which felt unsafe since we were at ground level and anyone could have climbed in. Thankful that it was approaching winter so weather was fine enough for us to sleep with no aircon. (Still, breathing in a musty room with no ventilation was tough!!) Otherwise, if it was any other time, it would have felt really too stuffy. Pillows were also too soft as it had insufficient stuffings inside. Toilet was clean and the usual shampoo/soap/hairdryer were provided. The shower water was inconsistent and could not stay warm too long. That made it tough to bathe in winter because it would turn cold and you would have to keep readjusting as you bathed.

They should upgrade their TV as well, most TVs are already flat screen but their was still the traditional box set but a very small 14" or 15" kind of box set. Just a comment though -- there should be more English-speaking channels to cater to tourists because otherwise, the whole night we could only watch the news channel. (BBC / CNN). I understand that they have all the German speaking shows which are fine but even the original English shows (CSI / V / movies e.t.c) was dubbed into German with no subtitles provided.

Internet provision in this day and age could be improved since they only provided half hour free internet and only able to use at the lobby/breakfast area. Rather than making us go to them for new access codes all the time, why not just make it free internet for that 1 day that we stayed in. Saves the paper they keep printing and issuing out to guests for access codes.

That being said, i must commend the breakfast because there was sufficient offerings and was in fact a pleasant surprise. For example, many may have only provided black tea or 1 type of tea but they had a wide selection of flavoured tea bags to choose from. A tea drinker like myself definitely appreciated that!

Quite dirty.
We stay for 5 nights. I had to fight in order to have towels changed after three days.
They simply pickup the dirty towels from the flor and put them back on the shelves.
No air conditioning. Carpets are dirty.

“No way, no how could you get me to do that again.”

Where to start at this truly horrible hotel. The rooms are standard in size, standard beds. The most disgustingly filthy carpets you could expect (and I had two rooms). The bathrooms were moldy and dirty. I can not explain the filth here really. I have spent two full weeks at this hotel and during that time, my room was cleaned twice. I had to ask for my own towels repeatedly. During the second week, my room was never cleaned once.

The service was just random. There seemed to be 2 people who actually had a clue as to what to do. Checking in and checking out were difficult. Buying internet was a process and required me to come back twice. It was really bad. The food in the restaurant was decent. Breakfast was not worth the 16 Euro price tag but it was okay.

This hotel is no where near Heidelberg, but it does have the train about a block walk away. I would recommend a car if you have to stay here.

Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else. I was not impressed or even mildly pleased.

Dear Wyogiz,

thank you for giving us the chance to improve our service after your departure.

We are very sad to read that we couldn’t satisfy you, during your stay in our hotel. Our aim is to make our guests stay as comfortable as it could be.

Too bad that we couldn’t talk about all your impressions and problems during your 2 weeks stay, so we could change and find out why. Anyway thank you for your hints afterwards. We will get better. By the way we will renovate carpets in 1 Quarter 2010 and also bathrooms are in special preparation.

Have a great day Jan Klinkert

“rude service, maybe even racist !”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 April 2009

We stayed here in a Taiwanese Lion Tour group on 14 April 2009 - our itinerary said Heidelberg, but it turned out to be about 12km outside there in the village of Hirschfeld. I think this hotel is still finding it's feet, because when they spotted our group entering the hotel, the counter clerks quickly grabbed the 'free' apples and jars of lollies off the counter to hide them away. Small faux-pax perhaps, but when we got to the room, wanting to cool our nice German beer, we found the fridges locked ! Of many international hotels I've stayed in, I've never seen this before. Asked at the front desk, the otherwise attractive blond German female in charge said we could pay a deposit to open the fridge - this offended me and I refused. Asked why they lock the fridge, she said 'maybe not you [caucasian], but these groups empty the minibar'. I felt this was racist to not trust Asians and told her so, and got no satisfactory reply.

Asked directions to the closest shop, the same female gave me totally misleading directions to something we eventually found 200m in a straight line away, after we walked around half the neighbourhood.
Very poor advice from a local.

At breakfast, with no-one to greet us at the entrance, we filled plates from the buffet, and my partner found a table, sat down and started to eat. Shortly after a waitress came over and asked her to move to another table. Annoyed at this inconvenience resulting from their lack of service, my partner refused, and an argument ensued, ending in me shouting "we're eating breakfast - don't p!ss us off ... !!!" in front of about 30 various breakfast guests (giving the adjacent Italian matrons great gossip material for the next 5 minutes).

Recommend you don't stay at this hotel.
