I stayed here in december for 1 night with my indian boyfriend.
For Indian mid/price hotels this one is actually value for your money.
The hotel looks nice and is clean! Spacious rooms, and even the bathroom was very clean.
When u walk outside there is a bazaar, and very chaotic.. but u can´t notice this when u are inside. The ganges river is very close! So evening and morning rituals are on less then 5 min walk.
We got discount because it was not the touristic season, we paid Rp 1800. In stead of 2400 rp.
The only thing i did not like was the hotel manager or owner, the man behind the desk.
He was not so friendly and looked at us like he did not want us there.
Probably because i am a western girl, and my boyfriend Indian. that is `not done` in many hotels.

Travelled with my elderly mum and her friend. Basic room, my bathroom was smelly. No hot water the first day until we realised it was available for limited times in the mornings. The staff (other than reception staff who were pleasant) were pushy. They were keen to organise triips for us and then asked for extortiante amount of money afterwards. To the point that everytime we turned they were there. They overshadowed what was meant to be a trip of a lifetime for my mum.

There was no warm cosy feeling about this place. Forget the food, eat around the corner at Hari Ganga where you were made to feel welcomed and special.

If you do stay here be alert and watch your back. It would be fine for a night but not beyond.

Hotel also needs to be updated, gloomy looking and well overpriced.

simple, elegant and spot clean rooms service was prompt, very close by har ki pauri(10 mins walk) and ram ghat . food was tasty and hygienic (but only made to order). a very charming and bustling market when you step outside the hotel.delicious eat outs(chats,sweets,kachoris etc) just outside hotel

Though Alpana Hotel is located at crowded market place, it is still quiet and restful, with good service and smiles at the front desk. Room was clean and airy, though plumbing at toilet can be improved. Lack of parking space is an issue but inevitable at the location which is very convenient for visiting Har-ki-Pauri.
