“France like it has to be experienced :)”

Dear everybody looking for a nice place to spend a good time,

I am a 22 year old student from Belgium, and i went to "Les granges Hautes " last June with my older brother and my 2 parents. I am willing to let you know how wonderful our trip was.
First, the host people : a very sweet couple talking French and English fluently. So you will not have any problem having a conversation with them. Always smiling, always there to help you out, to give you the best pieces of advice, and willing to make your trip as good as it could possibly be. They have 3 wonderful kids you might bumb into from time to time, since they share a part of their house. Thus it is a very friendly atmosphere. For instance, we were heading back from a nice little restaurant one night, and they were having a little drink on their private dinning table, outsides. They asked us how the food was, then told us (and they insisted) to go join them. So did we. And what a great time ! The husband went to get a bottle of home made french alcohol, and we talked, us 4 and them, for about 2 or 3 hours ! 2 other guests joined too. We got to have a very interesting conversation, very open, and learn more about the region and the people.

Then, the place : when we first got there, we were speechless! Oh my god ! That was like looking at a postcard. Unbelievable ! A very very wonderful place, seriously! And very typical from the region. Very Frenchy ! We all loved it. They have a HUGE yard, with all kind of flowers, trees and vegetables. The rooms are comfortable, quiet, and well decorated. and last but not least...the swimming pool :D !!! Very beautiful! Big, warm, clean,...just what you need on your vaccation!

As a conclusion, and honeslty, this is a place i highly recommand. Living in Belgium, i have been many times in France, and have spent vaccations in many different places of France. But that one was absolutely perfect. Weather, people, rooms, food,... Im about to download a picture to give you an idea :)

ps : if you want to go there...give them a call soon enough :p

“Exceeded expectations in charm, beauty and service”

When we walked through the entrance of Les Grange Hautes in the Dordogne region of France I had the feeling of entering Shangri La. Granted, that whole area is stunning, but this b&b blended perfectly with its setting. The grounds are made up of an immaculate lawn, beautiful gardens, with plenty of seating, and a surprisingly big and tranquil pool. The rooms are part of the old, rustic stone house, yet like little cottages that are wonderfully restored and decorated- each with a unique style and theme. If there weren't so much good exploring to do throughout the region, we would have been just as content to make a vacation out of soaking in the environment of this lovely B&B. The owners, Beatrice and Jean-Yves couldn't be nicer, genuinely happy to welcome and provide for guests and answer questions.

Also, if you stay here, we highly recommend you take Beatrice's advice and eat at Cafe de la Place, in the village just a few minutes away- amazing menu, chef (Stephanie) and co-owner and host (Theirry).

“An Amazing Experience”

Our stay at this wonderful bed and breakfast fulfilled all of our dreams of staying in an historic building in the french countryside.
Our hosts Jean-Yves and Beatrice Fauste were faultless in their
care of us (from New Zealand), even though we were three hours late in arriving, dinner was set and served under the trees in a beautiful setting. We were lucky to have the "Tuscany" room and en suite. Our walks across the countryside, visits to the market town of Sarlat for picnic ingredients to enjoy in the grounds of Les Granges Hautes. We feel privileged to have met and had our needs cared for by this lovely family. We would repeat this experience tomorrow if we could!!

“Wonderful experience: we highly recommend this place!”

We had a wonderful vacation at this hotel. We went there in June 2008 with my husband and 2 children (7 and 10). We stayed in the suite “Les Oiseaux”. We loved everything. The site is exceptional: a beautiful renovated farm in a manicured property with a superb pool. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the level of comfort is excellent. The service was impeccable in every aspect. The breakfast was excellent and we also had an exceptional dinner experience at the hotel. Beatrice and Jean-Yves are wonderful hosts who did everything to make our vacation a success. They had numerous and excellent recommendations about our visits during the day or where to have dinner at night. The location of the hotel (in the delightful village of Le Poujol) is extremely central to all the wonderful attractions of the region. Overall, our stay was just perfect. We highly recommend it and we can't wait to go back.

“Wonderful Country Inn in the Dordogne Valley”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2008

Les Granges Hautes is a very nice country inn in a convenient and beautiful location in the Perigord region of Acquitaine. The inn is a an old stone house that sits on several acres of lawn and gardens at the edge of a small village. Our adjoining rooms were tastefully decorated and were perfect for 2 adults and 2 children. There is a salt-water pool (no eye-stinging chlorine) that the kids loved.
Breakfast included fruit, several breads and pastries, homemade jams, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Several nights a week dinner is available at the inn, and the night we ate there it was excellent: warm foie gras with walnut oil and ginger, duck breast, and a fine panna cotta with a strawberry reduction sauce for dessert. There are also several very good restaurants within 10 km, and the location is convenient to activities such as visiting caves and castles and canoeing the Dordogne River. As we were there in August, most of the other guests were French, so we got to interact with "local" travelers instead of just other Americans, Brits, Germans, etc.
The owners, Beatrice and Jean-Yves, were very friendly and helpful, making dinner reservations and helping us get lined up for canoeing. In the off-season they are world travelers, so they are attuned to their guests' needs and were superb hosts.
