“An Amazing Experience”

Our stay at this wonderful bed and breakfast fulfilled all of our dreams of staying in an historic building in the french countryside.
Our hosts Jean-Yves and Beatrice Fauste were faultless in their
care of us (from New Zealand), even though we were three hours late in arriving, dinner was set and served under the trees in a beautiful setting. We were lucky to have the "Tuscany" room and en suite. Our walks across the countryside, visits to the market town of Sarlat for picnic ingredients to enjoy in the grounds of Les Granges Hautes. We feel privileged to have met and had our needs cared for by this lovely family. We would repeat this experience tomorrow if we could!!

“Wonderful experience: we highly recommend this place!”

We had a wonderful vacation at this hotel. We went there in June 2008 with my husband and 2 children (7 and 10). We stayed in the suite “Les Oiseaux”. We loved everything. The site is exceptional: a beautiful renovated farm in a manicured property with a superb pool. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the level of comfort is excellent. The service was impeccable in every aspect. The breakfast was excellent and we also had an exceptional dinner experience at the hotel. Beatrice and Jean-Yves are wonderful hosts who did everything to make our vacation a success. They had numerous and excellent recommendations about our visits during the day or where to have dinner at night. The location of the hotel (in the delightful village of Le Poujol) is extremely central to all the wonderful attractions of the region. Overall, our stay was just perfect. We highly recommend it and we can't wait to go back.

“Wonderful Country Inn in the Dordogne Valley”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2008

Les Granges Hautes is a very nice country inn in a convenient and beautiful location in the Perigord region of Acquitaine. The inn is a an old stone house that sits on several acres of lawn and gardens at the edge of a small village. Our adjoining rooms were tastefully decorated and were perfect for 2 adults and 2 children. There is a salt-water pool (no eye-stinging chlorine) that the kids loved.
Breakfast included fruit, several breads and pastries, homemade jams, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Several nights a week dinner is available at the inn, and the night we ate there it was excellent: warm foie gras with walnut oil and ginger, duck breast, and a fine panna cotta with a strawberry reduction sauce for dessert. There are also several very good restaurants within 10 km, and the location is convenient to activities such as visiting caves and castles and canoeing the Dordogne River. As we were there in August, most of the other guests were French, so we got to interact with "local" travelers instead of just other Americans, Brits, Germans, etc.
The owners, Beatrice and Jean-Yves, were very friendly and helpful, making dinner reservations and helping us get lined up for canoeing. In the off-season they are world travelers, so they are attuned to their guests' needs and were superb hosts.

“A wonderful find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2008

Les Granges Hautes is one of those wonderful "finds" that one comes across every now and then when wandering around rural areas of France. It has everything a top Bed and Breakfast should have...a glorious old Perigordian home set in fabulous gardens, with rooms charmingly and individually decorated, most opening directly onto the gardens.

Beatrice and Jean Yves are warm and delightful hosts, always ready to answer questions about the area, where to eat, where to shop, etc. (try the fabulous Meynardie restaurant just up the road).

Breakfast is served in the ancient dining room of the house and is typically French, with freshly baked croissants and rolls, cooked by Jean Yves, and accompanied by a selection of tasty jams.

The superb town of Sarlat is just 25 minutes away and is full of great restaurants scattered around in the maze of little cobbled streets and lanes. This is one of our favourite towns in all of France, as Les Granges Hautes is one of our favourite B and B's.

We first stayed at Les Granges Hautes several years ago and have since returned and will continue to do so every time we go to France.

“Beautiful, friendly and relaxing”

Kaylee and I stayed here at Granges Hautes for three nights and would have stayed longer if Jean-Yves & Béatrice had had the room vacant.

The accommodation and grounds are beautiful and well cared for, breakfast is great and all with a relaxing pool to come back to at the end of any busy day. The accommodation is very central to everything in the Perigord Noir.

The area around is great for walking, cycling, eating or just relaxing, beautiful towns and scenery (but we got chateaud out....!! you can only take so many chateau)

To top it off Jean-Yves and Beatrice are very friendly and hospitable....highly recommended.
