“A MUST eat there location!”

We did not stay here because our needs were a little different for our short stay on the big island, but we did have a very amazing meal here. We were not paying attention, and felt terrible when we just showed up and asked if they were serving rather than making reservations. Let's just say that although we'll be careful to call ahead in the future, we felt full and great by the time we left! Costanza & Allesandro only want reservations so that they can offer you the best dining experience possible in the most beautiful setting that is their home and inn. The construction of hard wood in the newer parts and the historic coral construction on the very private beach along with the personal dining experience with this family makes it feel like something out of a movie, or at least like we could have been movie stars! Side note, it is slightly remote so plan your taxis in advance.

“The consummate hosts... the Island's best food”

I can't even begin to tell you about the Restaurant, w/o mentioning how Constanza & Allesandro make you feel like a part of their extended family before even being seated.

The food was outstanding (and I had just spent the month prior in Europe). We were immediately served an amuse bouche - a flaky pastry topped with Neufchatel (I believe) cheese and prosciutto. Our first course was Spaghetti Marinara topped with Parmesan followed by prob, the best tasting Pollo al Rosmarino that I've EVER tasted. We also ordered, the Lobster w/butter & lemon and the Snapper Livornese that was so good that we dredged the delicious drippings up w/our bread (Constanza called this process: "little-shoes"). Next, came the Italian Spice Cake and Flor de Caña... a LOT of Flor de Caña! We closed down the Restaurant with our hosts indulging us, by paiently answering all of our questions. Before walking us to our cabs, they brought our more Flor de Caña - gratis.

I paid for four... what I would have paid for one, overseas ($33/person USD w/"many drinks"). Corn Island is a bargain basement vacation and La Princesa de la Isla is an unbelievable bargain!

When told, my son and his girlfriend would return with a group of their friends, Constanza presented him with her card, which included a discount. Wonderful people & a GREAT meal. So much so, that we returned the next night (a little hungover) for Spaghetti Bolognese, Pizza and conservation. I spent 2 weeks in Nica and this was the best meal - by far!

“Wonderful property”

We stayed over Christmas and I had one of the stand-alone bungalows. I was very happy with my accommodations and the price. Some hot water would have been nice but it was a small luxury to give up in return for the sounds of the ocean and views beyond belief. The area behind the bungalow is residential and, especially over Navidad, very loud, but the fan provided and a pair of earplugs took care of that. Our hosts made us a fabulous Italian dinner our first night there and their breakfast was equally nice. We like to try many new things so we took the rest of our meals at other establishments and Princessa remains one of the best for their cuisine. This is a nice, family-run establishment with its own little beach, not common on Big Corn. I especially liked the piñata-party held on Christmas day for the local children. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this wonderful little property.

Room Tip: One of the 3 rooms available offer sound protection for light sleepers. The bungalows, however, have...

“Fantastic Hospitality”

We have been trying to make it to Corn Island for 4 years and I was determined to make it this year. I looked into hotels on the island and picked La Princesa becuase it had good reviews and was not outrageously priced. I had to email back and forth with Constanza (the owner) a few times becuase the amount of people that were going with us changed a few times. She was very accomadating. I also let them know that I was a vegan and asked if the could prepare food for me and she assured me that they could.

When we arrived there was a person at the airport waiting for us as promised. The hotel is a small three room place at the edge of the water. We were warmly greeted upon our arrival and given some info about the island and how things worked around the hotel. The room were large for Nicaragua standards and had a large bathroom. They were clean and nicely decorated. We were the only ones at the hotel so it was very nice to have the place to ourselves.

They have a restaurant onsite and when I asked about vegan food they told me that they had been collecting veggies for me for the past week to insure that they could make food for me. Allesandro (owner) did the cooking and our meals were great! There was pasta to start, salad, entree and a dessert. I had 3 teenage meat eaters with me and they loved the food too. We ate there every morning and night. They even recommended other places for us to eat on the island.

They were very helpful with everything. They talked to the scuba shop for me, called taxis when we needed one and let us play our music on their speakers as loud as we wanted.

Constanza and Allesandro are all about making your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. They make you feel like you are at home with someone doing the cooking and cleaning for you. We really appreciate their warmth and hospitality. We recommend La Princesa de la Isla to anyone that wants an enjoyable stay on Corn Island.

“Fantastic hotel, superb food and great company”

My wife and I traveled to Big Corn Island in Nov/Dec 2011 and stayed for five nights at La Princesa de la Isla. The room we stayed in was spacious, the beds had mosquito nets and everything was clean and tidy.

The owners are a lovely Italian family who cook some of the best food I have eaten anywhere in the world. Alessandro and Costanza prepared some amazing lobster, shrimp and fish dishes and prepare pasta which is just perfectly "al dente". They are extremely friendly and we enjoyed spending time chatting and sampling Nicaraguan rum. As other reviewers have stated, they also make fantastic coffee (and a mean caipirinha)!

If you're heading to the Corn Islands, I would thoroughly recommend staying at La Princesa de la Isla.
