“Great location and comfortable”

Really enjoyed our stay in unit AO6, which is a duplex and with a view of thelake. The room was comfortable, clean and well appointed. A nice walk through meadows (beware of the roaming bison) to the lake edge. Sitting on the veranda of the lodge with a drink is magical. Really interesting architecture of the lodge. Would not recommend eating at the "cafeteria" for breakfast, it was terrible.

“Thieves stole expensive shoes!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

Stayed in Cabin E6 for one night this past summer and accidentally left a pair of expensive men's shoes in the closet when we left in the morning. We didn't realize our mistake until we got home that night, and by the next day when we called the Park to inquire with Lost and Found, we were told that housekeeping did not find anything and there had already been another set of guests in the room since we'd checked out. We found it extremely hard to believe that housekeeping did not find the shoes, and even though we realize that it was our mistake and the hotel management isn't responsible for items left behind, we still filed a claim management, only to be told basically that we were SOL. Even if this theft hadn't occurred, I still wouldn't have rated this property very highly - the bed sank to the floor, the carpet and furniture was circa 1976, interior lighting was a joke, the bathroom shower was rigged up haphazardly to the water heater that stood squat in the middle of the room (we thought the water heater was going to blow up in the middle of the night - no idea what that terrible noise was). Sure it's inside the Park and probably the cheapest option if you want to stay inside, but just be forewarned of the basic basic basic non-amenities and don't ever leave anything behind by accident!

Room Tip: Bring your own food/drinks - the nearby cafeteria is a ripoff! $6 for a 2-ounce box of Cheerios?!?

“Awesome location - ordinary room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

The room was very clean and comfortable. No refrigerator, and the coffee maker is one of those K Cup things, which I severely dislike. The surroundings are amazing - staying right in the park lets you get up and visit wildlife viewing areas in the morning when the animals are all out. There was a herd of bison outside of the lodge our first morning. The Lake Yellowstone Hotel is an easy walk away and not to be missed for a drink in the sun room. We stayed in the western cabin with two queen beds. It is basically a $100 room for $200.

“Large, clean, comfortable cabin but pricey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

We stayed our last night in a 'cabin' w/2Q beds during last week of Sept. 2011. Doesn't really look like a cabin I think of. Looks more like 'cabins' from Dirty Dancing movie. We were limited in our choices due to most of the hotels/inns closed the week prior for the season. Large and clean. It was great to have our own bathroom since the 3 previous nights in YNP we had rooms with shared bath/shower. Beds were comfortable and lots of room for our luggage which was great since we had to repack for our flight home the next day. Never stayed anywhere where you had to put a room key in a wall pad to get power but it makes sense and probably helps cut down on power bills. Great having a table to sit at and drink tea/hot chocolate before a very early long drive back to Jackson Hole for our flight. Cafeteria was good and prices not bad. The only bad thing is we ate a late lunch and the doors were open so flies kept bothering us while trying to eat. Beautiful location but it was sad to see the wild fires across the lake. Weird to see them burning at night. Mother nature's way of cleaning up the forest. Unfortunately all the wild fires made most of my photos smokey and gave me a sinus infection. But GTNP and YNP were on my bucket list and I'm glad I spent a week there!!!! Timing was great for fall colors and no big crowds and beautiful weather but limited choices for rooms. Not a bad trade off since we only slept in the rooms and ventured through the parks during the days.

“Not Worth it”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

I know that the cabins in lake lodge offer the cheapest option for staying inside the park, but for me its not worth it. Although the cabin is nicely furnished, but it lacks any sort of amenities, no TV, and even no fridge to store your stuff, guess they want people to use the park's stores & restaurants, and I can agree with them only if these facilities are open for reasonable hours, at the end one comes all this way to enjoy the park till the last ray of daylight. Beside that the cabin itself seemed old & when I entered I found a couple of flies roaming around the window & it took me some effort to get them out. Above all, the heater in my cabin didn't work well & I woke up in the middle of the night freezing cold (it gets below freezing in the park at night).
Moreover, the reception of the lodge is not open 24hrs, so when I wanted to check out early to catch the sunrise...I couldn't!!!!! so had to drive back again after they open.
I know that people say you need to stay in the park so as not to waste time & be able to see most of the park, but this was not the case & I found staying in a town like West Yellowstone is much more convinient and at lower rates & far better rooms.
