We booked our room at the VanCleef Homestead over the phone with the cheerful owner, Carol. She was helpful and welcoming on the phone and even more so once we arrived a few days later. Our stay was only one night(wish we had more time!) and we thoroughly enjoyed everything about it.
We stayed in the Mynderse Room. The king bed was very comfortable, the A/C and ceiling fan kept us cool on a humid night, the bathroom was nicely appointed and spotlessly clean and the room was spacious and beautifully decorated.
There were fresh cookies on the dining room table when we arrived, cold drinks in a guest refrigerator, chocolates and a pitcher of ice water in our room. What a pleasure to be so warmly welcomed! Carol gave us a quick tour of the lovely 1825 Federal style home. We went out for the evening to a special winery event. Later we came back with cheese, bread and wine and enjoyed a relaxing time in the lovely living room. This is an easy place to feel comfortable!
Breakfast was delicious! Fresh fruit, warm coffeecakes, juice, incredible coffee and homemade waffles with wonderful NY maple syrup. A terrific way to start the day. We had a lovely conversation with a small family that was staying there also. The nice thing about this B&B is that it is perfect for couples like us and also for families. It is romantic, charming and comfortable...everything a B&B should be.
The VanCleef also has a very nice outdoor pool. We did not have time for a swim, but having that available is a bonus. This home is tastefully decorated throughout. The hosts, Carol and her husband Brent are genial hosts that love what they do and it shows. We will be back....soon!
