“Hospitality at its best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2010

Our stay at the Vancleef Bed and Breakfast was wonderful. Carol greeted us upon arrival and made us feel like part of the home. She went out of her way to accomodate our needs. The homemade breakfasts were wonderful. We woke up anticipating what we were going to have for breakfast. Carol is very thorough and informative. We felt like this was our home away from home. Highly recommend this B&B!

“One of our best stops ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2010

From the minute we walked in the door Carol, the innkeeper made us feel at home. Our room was clean and comfortable and very nicely decorated. our bathroom was large enough to host a party in. An excellent breakfast was served family style and we enjoyed meeting and talking with the other guests. Especially nice after a day of touring the area was to sit in front of the fireplace in the living room. Carol was a good source of information about the area and was fun to just sit and talk with. We know where we will stay on ourt next trip to Seneca Falls.

“Best part of our trip to Senaca Falls, NY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2010

Our stay at VanCleef Homestead was easily the best part of our trip to Seneca Falls, NY. The dates we picked ended up being rainy and cold (10/14-10/16). However Carol and her B&B were warm and welcoming and made everything OK.
We were in the Mynderse Room, with it's wonderful King Size bed and private bath.
Carol & her mom were a delight - Carol was very helpful with ideas of things to do and places to go even though it was rainy and cold.
Breakfasts were wonderful both days. Main dish the first day was an Egg Strata, and the second day it was Buttermilk Pancakes, plus many other wonderful additions both days. Also there were cold bottled water and sodas (free) in a mini frig in the dining room.
The WiFi did work the best from the living room downstairs.
Also if you are sensitive to fragrances you might want to ask Carol not to use the linen spray in your room - it only bothered me slightly the first night but I thought I would give others a heads up.
Hopefully we'll get a chance to go back again.

“Warm and welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2010

Hosts Carol and Brent Gibbs were very accommodating to our family of four (two children age 12 and 14). We were made welcome even at 11:30 at night when we arrived!. The family style breakfasts every morning were hearty and delicious. Carol had many helpful tips for everyone exploring the Seneca lake area. Our adjoining rooms were perfect for our family; charmingly decorated and quite comfortable. The pool was especially welcome for the kids after a long day of sightseeing,

“Warm welcome, lovely stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

We booked our room at the VanCleef Homestead over the phone with the cheerful owner, Carol. She was helpful and welcoming on the phone and even more so once we arrived a few days later. Our stay was only one night(wish we had more time!) and we thoroughly enjoyed everything about it.

We stayed in the Mynderse Room. The king bed was very comfortable, the A/C and ceiling fan kept us cool on a humid night, the bathroom was nicely appointed and spotlessly clean and the room was spacious and beautifully decorated.

There were fresh cookies on the dining room table when we arrived, cold drinks in a guest refrigerator, chocolates and a pitcher of ice water in our room. What a pleasure to be so warmly welcomed! Carol gave us a quick tour of the lovely 1825 Federal style home. We went out for the evening to a special winery event. Later we came back with cheese, bread and wine and enjoyed a relaxing time in the lovely living room. This is an easy place to feel comfortable!

Breakfast was delicious! Fresh fruit, warm coffeecakes, juice, incredible coffee and homemade waffles with wonderful NY maple syrup. A terrific way to start the day. We had a lovely conversation with a small family that was staying there also. The nice thing about this B&B is that it is perfect for couples like us and also for families. It is romantic, charming and comfortable...everything a B&B should be.

The VanCleef also has a very nice outdoor pool. We did not have time for a swim, but having that available is a bonus. This home is tastefully decorated throughout. The hosts, Carol and her husband Brent are genial hosts that love what they do and it shows. We will be back....soon!
