“A great Kid friendly B+B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

A rare find - a B+B that is kid friendly! We bought our 16month old and we were offered use of a pristine pack-n-play and highchair! We stayed in the downstairs suite which had a huge bathroom with a shower and claw-foot tub. It was also had the benefit of being a little further from the other guests so we didn't have to be worry about early morning excited shrieks waking any one up.

The common sitting room was lovely. It really felt as if you were sharing someone home, cozy and comfortable. A yard outside has a hammock and kid-swing which we also enjoyed. There is a lovely pool too though we didn't have time to use it.

The owner was lovely and very helpful with recommendations for the area. Breakfast was hearty and delicious with many homemade breads, eggs and fresh fruit.

You can walk to town from the B+B. There is a park which is great for kids to run around in. We had dinner at the local diner but there is not too much in the town of Seneca Falls - the only con i can think of. However, obviously there are a lot of fabulous places, lakes, wineries to explore only a short drive away.

If you have kids i highly recommend Seneca Lake. Per the B+B recommendation - We parked at the chamber of commerce (free parking) walked along the waterfront of the lake to the State Park. There is a huge playground, great splash-park and a Beach. We were there for hours!

Room Tip: Ask for the downstairs suite!

“A Home Away from Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

We were here in my mother's hometown of Seneca Falls three days, and were very happy and comfortable during our stay. The VanCleef Homestead has a homey atmosphere, and a gracious innkeeper. The breakfasts were great. Everything was clean, with a comfortable bed and nice linens. We were busy visiting family, and didn't get a chance to use the lovely outdoor pool. Maybe next time. We highly recommend this inn if you're planning a stay in the lovely Village of Seneca Falls, NY.

“Lovely place to stay at!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2011

We stayed for a total of three nights and used the Van Cleef Homestead B&B as our base for exploring the wineries of the Finger Lakes and to do some hiking and swimming in the surrounding national forests and national parks.
The place is just lovely and provides a very homely and inviting atmosphere. Carol, the innkeeper, makes you feel like you are staying with family friends rather than at a regular B&B. She adds nice touches to her rooms, which are spacious and clean, such as cozy quilted blankets, chocolates and ice water in your room. There is a very nice living room which guests can use to relax and meet other guests.
The breakfast was outstanding - completely homemade, and changed daily (always a surprise to look forward to!).
This was definitely a wonderful place from which to explore the many things New York's Finger Lakes region has to offer!!!

“Lovely..”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2011

We stayed at the VanCleef on the weekend of June 25-26. We had never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before but we decided to give it a try. Carol, the inkeeper was very helpful and friendly. The room was absolutely cozy and charming. We had a good time chatting with other guests in the living room. The breakfast was delicious and the set up was beautiful. The property is a short drive away from the Waterloo Outlets and wineries. I would definitely come back again.

“A lovely place to relax”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2011

The hospitatlity here is second to none; Carol goes out of her way to make sure guests feel welcome, and have all they need. Being able to use a fridge, and borrow proper wine glasses made our stay super easy, as we were visiting the region's wineries.
Breakfast is different everyday, home made, and delicious. The rooms are spacious, unique and full of character. Ideal if you want homely base from which to explore the Finger Lakes.
