“I'd rather stay at Hilton rather than HGVC @ Hilton Hawaiian Village”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I love Hawaii. I love O'ahu, Honolulu and Waikiki. I've stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village a few times. Rainbow and Kalia towers at the Hilton. Lagoon and Kalia towers at Hilton Grand Vacations. This review is about the Lagoon tower, where I am right now!
I like the HHV, I like the location, I like the rooms (especially the view from the Rainbow tower). I don't eat in the restaurants here (too expensive and better alternatives locally ... like the Wailana Coffee House for breakfast).
This is a busy hotel and even with "status" (I'm a Diamond Hhonors member and an Elite HGVC), there's no chance of an upgrade.
I don't think this hotel, and I'm talking HGVC @ Lagoon tower specifically, is representative of HGVC (and I've stayed at loads of them). The service is NOT friendly, it's not Hawaiian.
This is the second time that they have given me the worst room they could have given me based on what I "paid", and this time they said "I should have contacted them, to remind them, that I'm an HGVC Elite" ... the attitude is wrong here, it's just so untypical of HGVC, of Hilton and of Hawaii.
In future, if I can't book the Kalia tower, I'll stay at Hilton rather than HGVC @ Lagoon tower ... but I do love it in Hawaii, I will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a Lagoon facing room, after all, this is the Lagoon tower.

“Consistently good service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

I've been staying in Hilton Grand Vacations (Grand Waikikian or Lagoon Tower) for 5 years now and they have been very consistent in offering good service and classy amenities in the room. The Lagoon tower suites has been renovated and interiors are now modern. Grand Waikikian of course have better designs, but more expensive and farther from the beach front..

1) Beach front, easy access to the beach and swimming areas
2) 10 to 15 minute walk to Ala Moana Mall
3) Few Shops and restaurants are accessible and within the grounds of the hotel
4) Tours can be easily arranged at the concierge
5) Kitchen and utensils are provided
6) 2 Bedroom unit is value for money for 4 to 6 guests.
7) Free wifi internet in the room
8) You can take a relaxing 10 min walk along the waikiki beach if you want to go to other shopping areas along Kalakaua Ave
9) Lots of ABC convenient stores around

Cons - late check in, but you will be given free access to lounge in case you want to freshen up.

Room Tip: Get a corner room if possible facing the lagoon side of the hotel

“Disappointing pool facilities”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We stayed here on the basis that it had the best pool facilities for young children, however, we found the pool so uninviting that we did not use it at all. It was in the shade for most of the day and the water was freezing. The lagoon is great.
The hotel itself is fine although the check-in was less than helpful. We got in at 6:30am and were left waiting until after 3pm to check in. Far from ideal after a sleepless overnight flight with a 1, 3 and 4 year old.

“Not the lower floors.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Stayed at the 3rd floor of the Lagoon tower. Two bedroom suite, very nice, big receiving area and a cool pantry and dining table to have a meal. However, since the room was facing the pool, and it was just above it (3rd floor) noise from the outside would always get in the room all day. As long as there are children playing in the pool, you can hear the noise.

Room Tip: Get a higher floor to avoid the children's noise coming from the pool.

“Awesome resort!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

We are on our way home from a weeks stay. The rooms were decorated beautiful. Great views of the city. We were on the 26 floor. The ocean was cool until, you got In and it warmed up. The pools were on the cool side until you were able to get use to it. Sun was hot with the trade wind breeze. Within walking distance to may shopping areas. We did take the bus sometimes for transportation. Service was great everyone was very helpful. Just one call down the desk and they brought up what was needed in minutes.
