“Awesome stay and great location! Loved the hotel!”

We stayed at this hotel for 11 nights. The lobby is nicely decorated, and the whole check in was quick. The hotel staff were very friendly throughout our whole stay, and they even let us have a late check-our (1pm VS 12pm) even though they were 100% booked the day we checked out. The rooms were nice, and the fridge, free Wi-Fi, and free 15 minute phone calls to the USA and Canada were such great additions. There was a fitness centre on site and was great, and the equipment was good quality. The pool area was small, but kept nice and clean. They played music around the pool, which my husband and I found really awesome. We paid for an ocean view room, and had a spectacular view over the Moana Surfrider hotel. My only complaint was that the elevators could be pretty slow at times. But overall, EXCELLENT hotel for the money, and we'd definitely stay here again and again.

“Location, Location, Location!”

This hotel is located right on Kalakaua Avenue, the heart of shopping in Waikiki. While others have complained that the lower floors are noisy (from street noise), we did not find this to be the case. We booked our flight and hotel from Orbitz and ended up on the 3rd floor of the hotel. We were given 2 adjacent rooms (there were 7 of us) facing the back of the hotel and all we saw was the AC system of the hotel for a view. This didn't bother us as we did not expect to be placed in rooms on the upper floors from an Orbitz deal. We were not going to spend a lot of time in our rooms other than for resting between sightseeing trips and sleeping anyway. From our location, the rooms were very quiet and we had no problem sleeping. We stayed from Sunday through the following week Monday (8 nights). We experienced a problem with one of our rooms on Wednesday, where we got an infestation of ants. We let the hotel know and they asked if we wanted our room sprayed (in order to remain next door to one another) or whether we wanted another room. We chose another room, were told the hotel was fully booked, and were given the only available room on the 2nd floor facing Kalakaua Avenue (where some posters indicated high noise levels). Our new room had a wooden sliding door to slide past the shutters as a noise muffler. Upon use of it, we did not hear street level noise and everyone from our family who switched into this room from their third floor room enjoyed a good night's sleep for the rest of our stay here.
As they say in real estate, everything is about location, location, location. This hotel is located right in the heart of the strip and we were in walking distance of everything....the beach, the zoo (about a mile away), restaurants galore, night life, the International Market, shopping, Every night we ventured out to try something different and enjoyed knowing everything was just "steps" away.
As for the rooms, they were what one would expect at a Holiday Inn. The beds were comfortable, the cleaning staff did an excellent job, there was a mini refrigerator, a coffee maker, free internet usage, and a safe in the room. The bath room was not big but was clean and satisfactory. One note: the ice machine was located on every OTHER floor so when we were on the third floor we had to go down to the second floor to get our ice. This was necessary because our refrigerator had no thermostat on it, so our drinks did not get as cold as we would have liked them to be. This was a minor inconvenience. As stated by other posters, in house parking was $30 a day which many considered steep. However, because we were aware of the parking fee from reading reviews from fellow posters on Trip Advisor, parking was built in as a fixed expense for our trip. The only negative I would say about this hotel, if any, is that the elevators were slow and the crowds got heavy at times. However, being on the 2nd and third floors, taking the stairs was a viable option for our group so this was not a big deal. As noted by other posters, there is no room service but that is not a big negative as most things you needed were steps away from the hotel (there were ABC stores located everywhere on Kalakaua Avenue). Another benefit here was we were able to print our boarding passes for our return trip for free in their lobby. When we checked out we were erroneously charged for 11 days of parking $330, but upon my catching the error it was quickly changed to $240. All in all, we enjoyed our stay here and we would stay here again when we return for another visit to Hawaii. I would recommend fellow Trip Advisor followers to consider this as a place to stay when you are in Waikiki.

“Awsome view and fantastic hotel at Waikiki”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We stayed at this hotel 4 days before our Hawaii cruise and three days after-first stay only 13 floors up, so requested higher floors next time-so we were 23 floors next time-awsome views- ocean, diamond head, hotels as well as Kalakaua traffic-so relaxing on our balcony. Also used the workout room early morning, accomodations were great as was the staff. Would return in a couple of years and stay again at this same location which was in the heart of Waikiki.

Room Tip: Higher rooms both for awsome views and some noise in the lower rooms.

“Great location & value for Money”

This is my third time in Hawaii - first time staying at the Holiday Inn ... I'd come back for the sheer location and convenience.

We were Travelling w young children and they were able to accommodate w interconnecting rooms which we requested prior.

With budget in mind - there are more stylish places to stay w bigger rooms and fancier restaurants etc but my main priority was cleanliness which was great. All staff friendly and they have free wifi in yr room which was excellent. They also offer valet parking and a laundry should you want to wash and dry yourself.

The location is right in the middle of the hustle and bustle - but we didn't find it noisy except for a nightly pick up of recycled bottles! But you can live w that!

You are above Macy's, next to the International Market & opposite the Cheesecake Factory and the walkway down to the beach ... All great in my view!

“Great location & the best beds!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We stayed here for 6 nights in January and were very pleased with our choice. The location is ideal, we could see the ocean from the balcony and on the 8th floor, we had no problems with noise from below. The room itself was extremely clean and comfortable, quite spacious and the bed was heaven to sleep in. I really liked having a laundry in the basement that we could use. Staff at reception staff & concierge were great and the house-keeping girls were lovely. The only problem I had was the tour desk. The staff there were not very friendly and you couldn't get to all the tour brochures & attractions' flyers because they were behind the counter. After initial contact with this counter, we avoided it for the rest of our stay and found the information we needed elsewhere. Other than that, I would highly recommend this hotel.
