We stayed in a cabin for two nights and in an A frame cabin for a week. The cabins were built in the mid 80s and they are in desperate need of a major renovation. They are comfortable enough but they are certainly not 5 star accommodations.
The pros - The night-time views of the sky are fantastic, you can clearly see the milky way. It is very quiet and peaceful during the week, a little more noisy during the weekend when families with young kids tend to stay. It is centrally located, the Grand Canyon and Sedona are all within 70 miles driving distance. The campgrounds are a few miles from downtown Flagstaff where there are good restaurants and tourist attractions. The heaters work very well and kept us warm at night. The beds are newer and were comfortable to sleep on. We liked having the full kitchen so we could cook our own meals when we wanted to, eating out all the time is expensive.
The cons - The toilet in the A-frame would not flush properly unless you held down the handle for the duration of the flush. There was a large soft spot right in front of the sink. I worried about falling through every time I stepped on it. I would not say the cabins are spotlessly clean when you walk into them. The walls are rough and therefore hard to clean, that would explain all the toothpaste spots on the walls. The only toilet is downstairs and the floors squeak wherever you walk.
They advertise the A-frame as being able to accommodate six. There are two bedrooms, one with at queen bed and one with two twins. The other bed was a pull-out sofa in the living room area. Not really a comfortable option for two more adults.
My wife and I & the other couple we shared the A-frame with liked the rustic setting and were willing to overlook all the shortcomings. Otherwise I would recommend staying at a hotel in Flagstaff.
