They have options on ways to stay - campground, A-frame, cabins...etc. - we stayed in the Hotel.
Not what I would expect for the military.
Dirty Towels.. so glad I packed my own.
Mildew in the shower.
Stains on the carpet and bedding.
So glad we were able to leave and spend the end of our trip at a friends home.
I had stayed there a few years ago and I don't remember it being like this...and imagine the rates have actually gone up substantially...very disappointed.

This is a great rustic campground, with nice pines and lots of places to walk. The camp hosts were very nice both times we were there, Oct 08 and Sept 09. We stayed at the last weekend of the year in order to attend the Flagstaff Science Week both years. There are sites with just water and sites with water and sewer, but no electric on any. You can run generators, but it's great that most people didn't when we were there. The quiet is awesome! There is also nice little museum right by the campground as there used to be an active base here. This campground is located just south of Flag, west of I-17, with the airport to th east. Great location, easy to buzz into town, but quiet and remote for relaxing.

It's a little tight for bigger rigs, but the camp hosts were helpful in situating us. We have a 35foot Class A with one slide out. There was a Boy Scout Campout going on in the campground this year and there was plenty of room and the noise was nicely muffled by the pines. :) Just a hint of revellie here and there. :)

This campground is part of a larger facility - it's about 400 Acres, but part is military and part is public. I don't know where the other person stayed in Cabins - I think she's referring to the Air Force Recreation Side, but that is only available to DOD personnel.

We stayed in a cabin. My husband had stayed in one before so we knew what we were getting. The outside is very cute and rustic looking but the inside is kind of "linolium." We stayed in a one room accomodation which had one queen bed and pull out sofa. It also has a kitchen with small 'fridge, two burner stove, microwave, and all the kitchen equipment. Of course there is a bathroom with a toilet, sink and shower. No daily housekeeping is provided and we liked that. there is a picnic table and charcoal only grill right out the door (you provide the charcoal). Extra linens and towels are provided. The area is just beautiful and I expected, but didn't see, elk to walk right up to the back window.
The facility at the check in lobby is great - there are two levels, one with a fireplace, guitar to play, lots of books on the area, and a little shop that stocks a few food goodies, beer and wine, and some souvenier stuff - available 24 hours! The staff was very helpful and friendly. There is an ampitheater just a few yards away and we loved the concert we went to. There is also a clothes washing facility so you can the laundry if you stay more than a couple days. There is a nice fitness facility as well (although you really don't need it with all the hiking and other activities in the area). There is an equestrian facility also on the grounds. Very nice and for the price it is a bargain! I think we paid about $70 a night for the cabin - it sleeps four but it was only the two of us. There is also a hotel facility in addtion to the cabins .There are also "yurts" which are pretty cool - literally - no heating or cooling and no running water, but we didn't stay in those so I can't speak to that. There is also a campground which we have stayed in before and it is also lovely - in the very tall pine trees and very quiet and peaceful There are some cabins which are clearly larger but I didn't peak inside to what they are like.
There are also bike rentals on premises which is very nice - a great trail system starts here. So - I give it an overall YES for families and groups to come and have fun for not much money.
