“Looking to stay in Salem, MA? You have to stay here!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2010

I was up in Salem visiting friends in the area and decided at the last minute to stay overnight. The minute I stepped foot into this bed & breakfast, I felt that I had picked a good one. I was brought up to my room and was very satisfied to how the room was decorated. As for the cleanliness of my room, I honestly have never been in a cleaner inn or bed & breakfast. These owners take great pride in their home and it shows!! It is only a few minute walk to all the attractions and shopping in Salem. You'd be a fool not to stay here!

“Great place to stay in Salem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2010

I would highly recommend the Amelia Payson House to anyone visiting Salem. Ada and Donald were amazing hosts, and our room was excellent. The house was beautiful and every inch was spotless. Our room was very comfortable, especially with the all important air conditioner during the really humid weather, and it was large enough to move around. We were amazed at how quiet it was. The bedroom had an outer door and an inner door which helped keep out any noise from the hallway. Breakfast each day was delicious. The location is very good as well. We parked the car when we arrived, and it didn't move once during our entire stay. The historic part of Salem is quite small, so everything was within walking distance. I can honestly say that I have no bad things to say about our stay.

Sorry for the delay in responding to your review. Now that the hectic fall season is behind us, I certainly wish to thank you for all your kind words about your visit to Salem and all the complements in regards to our bed & breakfast. While the day to day operations might be routine, the opportunity to meet new friends everyday is the real benefit and truly makes for everlasting memories. I’m glad we could make your visit to Salem better than expected and convenient as well. There are not many cities and towns that can offer the old town atmosphere and charm of Salem and we can’t think of a better place to enjoy our life’s work……..Again, Thank you for contributing to Trip Advisor on our behalf………..

“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2010

My husband and I stayed at the Amelia Payson House for three nights in May 2010. We wanted to visit Boston but not stay in Boston. This place was perfect. A few minutes walk to the station with regular trains into Boston and takes about 30 minutes from Salem on the train. Salem itself is a lovely place to stay. Good resteraunts and pleasant place to stroll round. The room we had was delightful. We had good nights sleep all three nights. Peaceful and quiet. Breakfasts were good and it was really enjoyable to chat with Ada and Donald during breakfast. We were flying back to England after our stay in Salem and the hosts very kindly let us do our online booking the night before which we were very grateful for. Ada and Donald gave us ideas on where to eat and how to get in to Boston and were really helpful. They made us feed very comfortable and it was a joy to stay at the Amelia Payson House. We enjoyed Boston a lot and would like to go back again and would definitly stay at the Amelia Payson again. Highly recommended.

“A wonderful home away from home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2010

A comfortable and quiet room with all the amenities plus a wonderful breakfast each morning. Don and Ada were friendly and helpful; they helped make our first trip to Salem a very enjoyable one. We were recommending their bed and breakfast to family members before we even left Salem!

“The Amelia Payson House is just perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2010

Staying in this beautiful 19th century home, just 30 minutes north of Boston, was pure delight! Situated on a tree-lined street just one block from Salem Common, the location makes it possible to park the car (off street) for the duration of your stay and walk to the harbor, museums, restaurants, etc. My second floor room was large, inviting, and beautifully decorated, with a modern spotless bath. Hosts Ada and Donald serve a delicious breakfast each day, complete with warm, friendly conversation. You will be fortunate indeed if you find your way to Winter Street and the charming Amelia Payson House ...
