“Cozy Darling Bargain Friendly Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2010

We had a great experience here, loved the place and especially the people. They were so helpful. I'm amazed there is a review with a low score, especially since the people didn't even stay there! They just didn't like their experience with a website.
Please ignore that one and read the others. They give you a much better idea of the place.

“Wonderful Refuge”

My husband and I were on a Harley trip across the country and our next stop was the Grand Canyon. A sudden thunderstorm made it impossible for us to see, so we turned around and headed back to Fredonia to find a place to stay for the night. The owners of the Juniper Lodge were very helpful and honest about their prices and availability. They gave the name and number of a hotel down the road which had cheaper rooms. While we were talking to them, another traveler came in who had been in a car and had turned back because of the storm. There were only two rooms left, so we both decided to stay. The owners ended up giving us a great discount. They also let us keep our motorcycle in the barn, seeing to it personally that it was secure.

The room was big, bright, clean and cozy. The TV was small, but all we wanted to do was sleep, which we did just fine!

“Welcomed reception for weary travelers”

Due to last minute emergencies at home, we left for our vacation a few hours later than expected. I had made our reservation with the Juniper Lodge early in July, but I still worried that our room would go to some other traveler, since I was not required to leave a deposit. Our cell phones were out of commission most of the time, so we couldn't call ahead.
When we arrived well after dark, all the signs were turned off, but there was a handwritten note on the door of the office (addressed to me) with instructions where to call. Before we could call, the proprieter arrived and checked us in. BRAVO! He had actually phoned our home to check on us, and found out we would be in late.
The room was surprisingly large, the beds comfortable, everything clean. It did not look like a cookie cutter motel room. This place is unique. Pine log furniture & colorful beds.
Try it, you'll like it.

  • Liked — The proprietor's consideration
  • Disliked — Didn't dislike, but the TV was a funky little 12". LOL...but there was cable! :)

My 10 year old son and I were travelling from the Grand Canyon to Salt Lake City. We took the beautiful 89A route. Jet lag caught up with us and I needed to sleep-- no rooms along the scenic way. We were advised to travel to Kanab, but were lucky to find the Juniper Lodge earlier. Clean room with internet access and cable. $40/night. A perfect fit for what we needed.

“reservation unresponsive”

According to [---], Crazy Jug Motel became Juniper Lodge in 2007.

I went to the above website asking to availability and rate on July 7.
Got an email quote on July 8.
I called three times on July 9 and left two messages on the answer machine at [---].
I called twice on July 10, and sent an email telling the lodge that I’d like to make a reservation.
It’s July 11, I haven’t got any response to my email and messages.

I’ll have to look for another place.
With this kind of response (lack of!), how can one feel assured having a place to stay even if one gets a reservation!
